Just speaking from my own experience here:

Shotguns - How many heavies have you come across that can tank 5 shotgun rounds at optimum range? I have CalSent skilled to 5 for 15% resistance to shotguns and I still go down in 3 rounds.
Nova Knives - I don't understand why you're laughing. From first hand experience, I know a Minmatar scout with charged NK's can one shot my suit. Other suits can finish me off with a regular slash.

At 30 meters, the TTK of a HMG is around 2 seconds against most medium suits. Slowdown effect notwithstanding, this is more than enough time to get back in cover and reposition. I ran dual Magsecs (skilled only to Operations 1) during the sidearm event and with 2 enhanced damage mods I was able to take down most heavies without having to reload or swap.
I do agree the slowdown effect should be removed; if a player is fast enough to react to being shot he should have the opportunity to get to cover.
The HMG Sentinel's durability and close-in DPS are requisite to its purpose as a short range brawler. It's literally the only thing it's good at.
If a nerf is necessary for the heavy, reduce its sprint speed. This will narrow the useful envelope of the suit without harming what it's supposed to be good at while it's in that envelope.
And if an HP nerf really is necessary, I suggest that it be done on a per race basis instead of a flat % across the board. Also, perhaps a reduction in HP of non-primary tank coupled with a smaller HP gain in primary tank (example: +100 to shields and - 200 to armor for the Caldari Sentinel) would help make using -- and fighting -- the different racial suits more interesting. |

So if your team is getting tank stomped in Ambush and you need to run away so you can drop uplinks in a safe location it trumps the cloaked scout?
So if your squad is assaulting an objective and you need to relay enemy positions to them it trumps the Gal Logi or Cal Scout?
So if you or your team are in need of ammo and a supply depot is nowhere to be found it trumps any other suit that actually has an equipment slot? |

There is no way an HMG can compete at with a light weapon 40-60 meters. The natural spread of the gun would cause the majority of your bullets to miss.
I am a full time HMG user, and i can tell you that even scouts and starter fits do not die instantly to an MH-82 at 40 meters. Anything past 30, and you see an exponential increase in TTK for the HMG. Even at 30 it takes me around 2 seconds to take out most medium suits, which is sometimes more time than it takes some rifles to kill me in my standard Caldari Sentinel. We can test this on video if you wish.
If I have the luxury of finding an enemy unaware of my presence and that enemy is past 30-35 meters, I switch to my Magsec. |
