Absolutely nothing, not even tanks (they can't follow you into tight holes).
With a 900 DPS doom machine, wielded by someone with more than 1500 HP, you have to run when they see you and get too close.
But you can't run, no, you slow down to crawl speed as you try to escape death from something that is more damaging than a vehicle mounted small blaster, or an STD Large blaster even.
R-E-M-O-V-E THIS STUPID MECHANIC. Don't nerf, don't change, REMOVE.

Seriously. Its like walking through drying concrete. With a magnet pulling your feet down. Its ridiculous. If its something to do with its High ROF, shouldnt other High ROF weapons do the same? ACR does the same, but it's not nearly as deadly, and doesn't last as long, so it isn't as bad (though still bad)

With 2400 RPM, a few bullets missing here and there won't hurt you.
Besides, I was running Gal Assault, and it was pretty much impossible to take out a heavy unless I had the drop on it, and took it a good while to turn around.

This would also make heavies less likely to go rushing into a room full of 6 people knowing that at least three are going to get caught in the cone and be screwed before he goes down. When you have 2400 RPM, dispersion isn't a big concern, since you're filling your cone of fire with bullets.
Just remove it, don't introduce mechanics that would be difficult to balance and code, just remove it.

It still does more DPS than AR at that range.

I have trouble believing this as even the boundless is probably only landing about 25-30% of its rounds at that range and at that point has little quicksand effect. My guess would be you had a run in with a well versed assault HMG user. Uhh, you do know that I'm using it too right? My boundless can kill things pretty effectively up to 45m~. At 30m I'm wrecking faster than the AR.

Which for the most part, is the entire reason not to use that heavy suit, speed.
