i've gotten much better at it! obviously, i still have bad games, especially when the other team is spamming shotgun scouts, but overall its been a fantastic experience, and i plan to keep with it for much longer. it's 100x more fun than running in my scout suit, and best of all, it's A LOT more challenging.
i started out struggling to stay above a 2 KDR in my melee fit, but after just a few days, i'm getting scores that are actually really impressive! unlike my scout suit, when i score high in my melee fit, i actually feel accomplished, because i had to work for it, and i did it in one of the hardest ways possible.
on a side note, i decided to get back into my scout suit for a few matches, and the first match, i went 32/1, with scores only getting better than that. after losing an ungodly amount of isk melee tanking, it felt good to own everything again, but only for a while. it got boring quickly, and i after only a few matches, i was back to melee tanking again. 
TL;DR
melee tanking really is a lot of fun. it has it's bugs, and you definitely won't be making much money by doing it, but i highly urge everyone to give it a try, or anything new. i understand that it feels good to stomp everything, but it's truly a lot more fun trying new things. don't worry about your KDR or reputation. who cares what other people think about you? who cares if don't score very high? as long as YOU had fun doing it, then that's all that matters.

Hes done some insane scores.
Played with him, and watched him pull 2-3 man kill feeds with melee's.
Dat Min Assault with Speed. It's fun to watch.
I am now making a similar fit with my Min Scout because I am crazy.

That's awesome. I know he killed me with a melee close to 600 damage on my heavy frame.

Seriously planning on maxing out melee.
But then i need Minassault... Min scout doesn't cut it, and my Min commando would need a 2/2 split of biotics...
Damnit. Now i'm gonna have all min frames proto'd.... >.<'

the shotgun/ SMG animation is pretty good, though i normally use an ACR and SMG. i generally use REs for the melee animation, plus they come in handy for dealing with the massive heavy spam.
