I can't seem to stay on target while those I am targeting have no problem keeping me in their sights. What am I doing wrong?
How should I be physically using the DS3? How should I approach and attack the target in game? |

Play around with sensitivity. They could just be experienced players.
KBM could also play a part, but not using it myself I couldn't say for certain.
Also, some weapons seem to have stronger AA than others.
I have had problems with this too at times, There is a lot of trial and error as to finding what works for you, as well as practice, which just takes time I am afraid.

use strafe more to track a target moving lateral to you.. i dont like DUST aim much so i MD and dropship.. there's only 3 speeds to moving aim, in other games there's a much finer range than just low medium and high aim input. i was good one time with AR but this aiming is unique for lack of better term

Lower sensitivity.
Go watch some videos of people playing dust with a mouse - you might be able to recognise a mouse user after awhile. Could be your isse.
I've just come back after a hiatus - the heavy machine gun seems to be back - just get them somewhere inside your huge circle and hold the button down. Watch small red lines decrease in length. |

Play with your sensitivity and learn to strafe effectively.
If you use aim assist keep in mind that it will move your aim with your opponents movements (to a degree) so if it's on you might end up over compensating on your aim movements.
I can't stand the keyboard config playing kbm so I've devised my own hybrid style. I keep my mouse plugged in beside me as I play. Any time I need a precise shot I will quickly swap my right hand to my mouse. Use your left hand on the controller to move, sprint and aim. Use the mouse to look and to shoot. Way easier to make those longer ranged shots when you can simply click on buddy's face. The only issue is that you still need to use your right hand to reload, grenade and jump so I wouldn't advise it in close combat situations. Very fun to do while sniping or using a laser / rail rifle or pistol. Swapping back and forth is seamless so switching from one to the other isn't all that difficult.

Yeah, I was using the ds3/mouse combo. The reason I started this thread is because I hung up the mouse. |

I find if your using DS3, 80 vertical and horizontal sensitivity is perfect for infantry. Also they probably don't have sights on you at all, their probably hip aiming, because if you are to close to someone ADS slows you aim and zooms in so its very hard to track movements.

My guess is you are aiming down the sights when the other player is too close or moving to fast. If you are having trouble tracking them use hipfire. If you are still having trouble then it is a matter of practice and maybe you should switch to weapons that require less precise aiming.
Because, that's why.

If enemies are close, don't aim down sights. Let AA do the work for you.

DS3 user here. Try getting used to the lower sensitivities (<25). I have mine set to 21 and ADS set to 17. It seems slow, but its very consistent tracking. It may take me a full second to do a 360, but tracking moving targets is very easy. Keep AA off when in the lower sensitivities since it's more detrimental than beneficial. If you have a bead on one red, and another red passes in front, your aim gets thrown off horribly.
