I have a Gallente heavy with the 5pts to give 25% splash damage reduction for the Sentinel suits. However, single RE's are doing over 1700 damage to me. RE listed splash damage is 1500 and with a 25% reduction they should be doing around 1125. I should survive that. 125% of damage would be 1825, which still isn't right, but it's closer. There are no mods that increase splash damage.
Just wondering what's going on, since sentinels were billed out as being able to withstand an RE and that has not been my experience. I'm not talking about walking into a nest of RE either. I mean when a scout throws one out while running and detonates it on me. |

Do keep in mind that REs do explosive damage, which deals +20% extra to armor, so with the low shields of the Gallente, a lot of the damage is bleeding onto your armor... and honestly, remotes do more damage them most heavies can stack EHP.

So you have a 5% resistance with your armor, but not sure the total shield resistance you have because I forget how much reduced damage explosives do to shields and then you're 25% resistance on shields, but you're Gallente and lack shields.

So, the tooltip on REs in the marketplace definitely says they do splash damage. I know before 1.8 REs were doing explosive damage as you said. I thought the mechanics were changing to allow sentinels to "stand and deliver" as it were. Perhaps they did not and my 25% reduction is to a nothing damage class, like being resistant to poison.
My stats on my favorite 9k ISK standard sentinel suit is 487 Shields and 750 Armor. for a flat HP of 1237. Considering explosive damage does +/- 20% that would be an EHP of 584 shields and 600 armor. So that makes sense. Out of the 1500, taking the first 584 off, and multiplying the remaining 900ish damage by 1.2 against my remaining armor would be right around 1700 damage. But that is not taking my 25% splash damage reduction into account.
So whether it exists or not, the splash damage reduction is not being applied to RE damage despite their damage being labeled as splash. For the sake of comparison, Locus grenades are also labeled splash damage while mass drivers have a direct and splash component. I'm guessing I shouldn't expect my sentinel DR to apply to either of those.
It makes me wonder if I get the bonuses against rails, etc. If I do, it may be that RE damage isn't applying correctly. If not, then perhaps sentinel bonuses aren't being applied correctly. |

I can't tell from splash damage, but I can tell my Amarr Sentinel Shields are resistant to Snipers since they can tank a few hits from a Charged. Then my Armor is resistant to enemy Sentinel's HMGs. The one thing that I'm like wtf, my resistance means nothing is against Combat Rifles. Never really noticed grenades since most enemies chuck flux at me.

The other day i was lobbing mass driv rounds at an amar heavy which is supposed to have resistence to it ( mind u he was at proto lvl) first time did minimal damage first time around second i oblitirated him. it is ridiculous though u are right RE should not have such a grave impact on heavys for 1 there to slow to move outta the way if they dont noticed in time second left immediantly vunerable if they have over 1500 hp if they manage to barely survive which has happened on my heavy char n sometimes i didnt survive with just one skills are NOT being applied correctly |
