DUST 514 matchmaking is crap. Bring it, bring it. We all know it's true.
The problem is, while vets "lol" at a protostomp, beginners, the people WE NEED TO DRIVE THIS GAME, are literally going, "This is CRAP. I'm done." That's what happened when I introduced my friend (a FPS vet) to the game last week.
He brought up a great comparison, so prepare yourself. DUST 514 VS World of Tanks.
Now, World of Tank players consistently b**** about matchmaking, but it's still pretty good (compared to Dust 514).
WoT Matchmaking: There are tiers of tanks and vehicles. In each match, there are a few "presence players"...or individuals who have the higher tier tanks (maybe 2-3 tiers higher than the majority of their team). They will kick butt if they enter into fights against noobs, but they're generally balanced.
So....why the hell is there such a disparity between how WoT matchmaking is turning out as opposed to Dust 514 Matchmaking.
Because...
DUST 514 Matchmaking: I'm not sure how the matchmaking work exactly (thank you CCP for being so quiet and opaque about your game mechanics) in Dust 514...but heck, it seems to be lopsided thanks to squad up and generally crap algorithms. What seems to be BREAKING the damn game is the fact for all of the games seeming complexity....it in fact sucks at attempting to balance peeps. There are prototype suits entering into battles simply as "prototype suits"...there's no gradation to the suits.
HOW TO FIX MATCHMAKING: 1. We create a weighted average point system for every single fit. Core skills/ proficiency will be factored in, and we'll end up with something like this:
20% weapon meta level 10% wepaon proficiency (some sort of conversion) etc. etc.
NOW, I'm no brilliant genius at game mechanics, so CCP go figure.
2. When ENTERING a match, players will get to select their intended tiering range, i.e. your weighted average. You stay in that tier, and YOU CAN'T SWAP BETWEEN CRAP FITS AND GOOD FITS.
3. The matchmaking be fixed so that the precentage of certain tiers is equal on both teams.
1.8 --- Still getting spawntrapped by boxes.
1.8 --- Smart deployment = letting a 2 year old handle spawns.
