Caldari felt like villains too, but reminded me a lot of the Hellghast and im not into that too much.. The whole crusader stuff , etcetc...I liked it. Not as much as a regular eve player but I'd imagine more than the average newbie. The Gallente just seemed to be the most familiar and least disagreeable of the lot. When shields were down, you had an extra hp buffer, with it's own unique defensive attributes, to buy you time for an escape. Without fail, those who operate within the armor buffer are simply closer to death. When there is a sudden alpha strike (numerical disadvantages) overwhelming your defenses, it is simply better to have that extra hp that the armor tanker has stripped away before an engagement even heats up. This opinion has been undermined by the removal of the LLAV and the never released remote shield rep tool. Armor tanking has a logistical advantage atm (super repper). The basic principle still holds true, and though my 87 hp scout armor seems pretty trivial, I have escaped with 0 armor, and dual tanking is perfectly viable. There will be bullets. Even then, the race linked to a role and 500k auto SP was already put into the role from the race. At the time I chose logistics (minmatar), as it suited my playstyle. Gallante was sniper Ammar was heavy and caldari was assault BTW. Kinda regret it now as I basically only use gallante equipment with my Sever being my only non gallante suit, and I prefer gallantr medium militia dropsuits to minmatar now because minmatar lost their base armour rep.

Then I went through all the races to see if they had different merc quarters, and the caldari and amarr glitched to not show their real mq, instead showing the gallente. So I chose the gallente over the minmatar ignorant of the better caldari and amarr ones. Still the gallente looks super nice yet futuristic, while the caldari is bigger yet doesn't look as refined, while the amarr looks smaller but looks like an evil villains hideout. Racial methods of torture (word of warning: every one of these links is either truly cringe worthy stuff, in the case of the Gallente, or pure nightmare fuel that will stick with you, such as the Caldari. I like being the rich guy, and being a Statesman seemed the best fitting. I'm not really a fan of the whole "crusade" and "holier than thou" stuff that goes with being Amarrian, and the Minmatar's combat philosophy fits well with how I like playing video games (speed > HP), and I love their lore. Lucky for me, the Caldari and Minmatar trade with each-other eagerly so it wouldn't be too out-of character for me to use Minmatar gear.
