My only question is why the hell they would do such a thing, when just a few months before they had re-adjusted it to where it actually made sense and worked. Now, if I'm landing, I have to literally be as careful as possible, because if I go 3 mph faster than a near stand-still landing, I'll loose more than half of my shield.
Before, the bottom of your dropship was considered the "tough" side of it, since it needs to make quick landings and take-offs to ferry troops in distress or land to drop uplinks. I used to only loose around 200-500 shield HP when doing a "quick" landing, but that has since quadrupled since this change to collision damage.
And this isn't the worst part; now users are taking ramming as a serious tactic, since these dropships have become that much more sensitive to collisions. I have seen literally 4 pilots in 3 sessions all try to just ram my dropship in an incubus instead of shoot at it. Being a veteran pilot, these kids are seriously ruining the actual intention of what an Assault dropship is made to do, and they take advantage of their armor buff as a buffer to survive the collision (even though no incubus survived running into me).
CCP, what the hell were you thinking when you yet again changed the collision damage for dropships? I assumed you learned from your lesson when you tortured us pilots for over an entire year, making us pay 1.5 million ISK for every single glass-cage dropship you gave us, but now you decide to make them fragile yet again, without warranting a reason for doing so. Here's something to also take into account. If you are right over the ground, and I'm talking about less than a foot above the ground, and you jump out or swap seats and no one is in the pilot seat... then when it lands, it just plain explodes. No warning. Just boom.

So, I was messing around with ADS tonight and during one match something happened that pissed me off. I called in the incubus at the MCC on a skirmish match. I saw the landing marker next to me and waited for the RDV. Without seeing the RDV I hear "Deployment Successful." Confused I looked up at the MCC and saw the RDV flying away from on-top the MCC. My ADS rolling to off the side was accompanied by the loudest yelled swear word of all time (for me anyway). It plummeted to the ground nose first and exploded taking out a pair of random blueberries that had spawned in late.
Another match sometime later; I hear another "Deployment Successful" but this time being no where near the MCC I wasn't too worried. Waiting, waiting. Then with dreadful fright I look up and my ADS is plummeting to the ground, the RDV stuck in one of its frozen moments high above the ground. I said "hell no, I'm not letting this happen again" and I walked underneath, timed it just right and the moment before I was crushed underneath the fiery explosion of its landing I melee the dropship. A nearby Squad mate was laughing his ass off and after a while managed to ask me "what was I expecting to happen?" The answer was "Pretty much what did happen. I tried to do something, cursed Scotty for it, and then died before doing a damn thing."
