So I have some sp laying around and I figured I need some powerful AV to take the fight to those dastardly HAVs. What should I get? Yesterday I saw a Gal commando eat a sica with his wyrkomi swarms like it was an everyday thing.... so I'm leaning towards swarms.... but I also know how strong the proto forge guns are.....

Wirykomi Swarm Launchers are pretty beast right now.. Specially with the lack of solid shield tankers on the field now.
Swarm launchers Have a bonus to Armor damage and Forges have a bonus to shield damage.
Swarms however are one of the most nerfed and buffed guns in the history of DUST 514.
Forges are broken currently... Where every once and a while it fires blanks.... But they are and have always been the strongest AV option in the history of DUST. other then another tank that is. |

You really have to spend a week tanking to really understand the AV game well. Knowing all aspects of DUST makes you better at facing them and knowing their weaknesses. |

Also, I think you're better off with a Forge. |

If you intend on using AV, please watch this video (dedicated to Bethhy).

i still like forge guns myself. Unlike a swarm launcher if a stray infantryman starts closing in on my i can dispatch them with a very carefully aimed FG shot. |

You guys left out the importance of a spec'd up side arm for the forges if you don't have someone to help cover ya. At least with swarms on a commando you can still use your main rifle.

I was a fan from the forgegun but with the recent bug where it shots blanks half of the time i would say go swarms. Then stick them onto a cloaked scout and you can ambush tanks and avoid infantry.

Don't have to be a good tanker, just a good ambusher. Most tankers will follow a predictable pattern so all you have to do is wait in your redline and watch the map & wait for them to get into a position you can rush up behind them and just blast away. Though multiple tanks make this harder and the tank(s) won't show on the map unless a team member can see the tank or is near it (not sure which)

I use the 1st assault SMG (I forget which tier it is) on my heavy; got plenty of hp buffer that the only real threat is another heavy or multiple enemies.

This depnds on a lot of things like:
Do you like being a heavy? Would you rather be a medium or commando suit? How far away would you like to engage? How often will you be using non-prototype?
Here is a chart to show you the damage progression of the two basic forms of weapons. The forge does more DPS, Alpha, damage, travel way faster, and have better range. Swarms have a homing function but can run into objects (quite often) and can be outran by dropships and LAVs.
If you are ever going to use non prototype AV, swarms are a waste of time.

I use to have a viable 22k mlt assault forge gunner with a complex heavy damage mods and basic armor repper, but the damage mods suck now and forge guns are broken soooo...
