TL;DR:
- Add the ability for eve pilots to send down drones to assist ally mercs on planet.
- Change installation spawn mechanics so that they are now purchased assets and must be loaded onto some sort of launcher module on an EVE ship and then to be fired down to planet surface. Similar to orbitals.
- Night sky in dust planets should corresponded to position in space e.g. if planet is in gallente space, when player is viewing the night sky, the green and orange nebula should be visible. This should also apply to the war barge. (I should think this would almost be like a copy and past job)
- There must be a method/game mode that would allow for a small number of players (a squads worth) to attack a district at a moments notice just to maybe raid some supply's from a rival corp. Call it "Planetary conquest lite" or "smash & grab".
Many new players out there may be compelled to try dust after seeing some of the trailers consisting of clips of epic space battles being fought between titans in low orbit and with there being the ability to shoot them down with massive cannons on the ground. They then of course, would have been struck with great disappointment to find that actually none of this is in the game. Indeed nothing even closely resembling this is in the game. At first glance it would appear that dust is a game all about taking over planets and engaging in massive wars with hundreds of other players. But in all reality the battles most people are fighting are as meaningful as a round of COD. Combine this with the fact that PC is VERY inaccessible, the lack of any sort of space battle (even if it is staged), the night sky comes in like 3 variants and all EVE players can do is shoot at the planet. The economy isn't even shared yet ( although yes that is in the works allegedly ).
What is ultimately lacking here is the sense of immersion and the tenuous connection with EVE players. There should be more of a variety of options for EVE players to interact with dust players and vice-verse.
If adding the variable night sky that would change according the planets relative position in space then that would greatly enhance the sense of immersion and perhaps create a feeling that that player was/is exploring though space even if it were on a restricted basis.
Currently installations are nothing more than an inconvenience for tankers and in many cases are all destroyed at the start of battle. In most cases they don't even serve as any significant tactical advantage and are poorly positioned. If they were a player bought assets and could be called down from EVE ships in several player chosen positions ( say to be called down around a position recently captured in skirmish, to reinforce defenses) then people may actually begin to appreciate them.
NEW GAME MODE! If planetary conquest was more accessible then that would probably entice more players to start playing the game more often(although a better introduction/tutorial section would be advisable cuz the current one sucks). Perhaps a new game mode for the pirates among us who just want to smash and grab some resources from an enemy corp. It could be something like where there is one squad that is trying to infiltrate a complex in a player corp owned district. Instead of trying to capture the district, what they are tasked with doing is stealing some resources or engaging in sabotage. As a defense for the owner of the district they could set up turret installations and drone patrols to try and stop the intruders. This would in effect be PVE
Dust 514. A game about shooting people with super deadly sci-fi guns... and dancing.
