People are frustrated because the game isn't living up to its potential yet. I'm personally quietly confident that they are getting their development problems under control, but only time will tell.
It would be worse if everyone just stopped playing. At least an angry player is a player.

I can agree people hate on CCP too much, they do some very good work sometime, they have vision, scale, and the will to make that a reality.
I feel however some long standing supporters and fans have invested more than retail costs of a new release title ($60 US, $129.99 NZD) and feel that with all that kind of support a certain quality of game design and production should be upheld.
I have invested more and $200 over the year and a half I have been playing Dust, I certainly don't regret it, but certainly can ger frustrated at times with the progression of the game.
In the end while most people hate on CCP I don't think they will ever truly leave the game.

Hate? More like jaded. When Dust 514 was first announced for consoles, (I think XBOX 360 at the time) my first reaction was "they have no idea what they're getting into." Making a FPS and learning as they go is one thing, but developing one for one of the most immature, ADHD gaming markets was a completely different beast. Add in a "paid preview" beta structure and it was pretty much a recipe for disaster with all odds pointing at failure.
I don't hate CCP, but I sure as hell don't feel sorry for them either.
This community is the nail in Dust 514's coffin, waiting to be hammered in.

thats there choice ive spent -ú7.99 on this game and i still managed to be 6th on the leaderboards so in my eyes its free.

Just because this game does not require payment, doesn't mean its truly free.
It takes time out of one's schedule to play.
It also means sacrificing something else that you could be doing instead.
I don't necessarily agree with the way in which people complain, but I do think they have valid reasons to complain.
Besides, why should someone spend valuable leisure time on a game that they find to be broken and not fun? CCP still needs to make money, and they do that by creating something people will like. And if you sift through the forums, you will find some people who genuinely want this game to succeed, and want to give much needed, legitimate feedback to CCP.
Of course, there are the trolls too.

why the hate? oh where to begin....
lets start with what we were promised this game would be over 2 years ago and still don't have have of it
the countless forum posts offering good suggestions and needed mechanics that more than most of the time didn't even garner a response from ccp let alone implementation.
their "official release" of dust last may that ended up being worse than the beta...
then theres all the crazy nerf/buffs with no form of respec not to mention on items that people bought with real money yet got no refund
then there was the removal of 4 bpo's after logibro promised us are bpo's would not be touched once removed from market.
and through all of this many of the ccp reps have been egotistical and arrogant, one (cmdr wang) even compared the development of dust to landing someone on the moon.
they are liars cheats and subpar game developers...
that's about it in a nutshell.
this game makes me sad....

im not mad at CCP, i know an MMOFPS game is a first for them so they have no experience in making dust the way they wanted it to be. so im giving them time to make dust into the potential that all of us know it will become.

Once upon a time God placed two people in the garden of eden. it was free and full of food and animals and fun games (no clothes though). The only thing you couldn't do was eat from one tree, but that was ok because there were like a hundred other trees you COULD eat from.
But then a snake tricked one of them to eat from the forbidden tree. And the other went along because YOLO. They were both kicked out of the garden.
Ever since then everyone has complained about free things.

I get aggravated with them because I've put around $500 into this game within 3/4 a year and I keep seeing developmental disasters. There is NO excuse why there are still game breaking bugs sitting here in Dust. There is no reason why we should still be suffering from stuff like the sprint glitch. This recent bout with the forge gun/skill bug is unacceptable. We're going on nearly 4 weeks of that; it should have been fixed in a hot fix within a week of when the new suits came out. There's no reason for the excessive framerate drop in the Gallente facility either.
Always the last person to leave. Always the one cleaning up people's messes.

Was the game ever supposed to be subscription based ?
EVE makes the money - Dust grows the playerbase in areas EVE wouldnt reach whilst being able to offset some of the costs with AUR based stuff.
Boosters already are locked.
If they ever get the content pipeline flowing then much more money could and would flow in.

It being a "free game" is all the more reason it should perform better. Their pay is based on people enjoying the game and wanting to pay to advance at a faster rate. Instead you pay for SP just to have whatever you speced into get nerfed into the ground or slaughtered by the newest OP thing.
Even with the issues many of us continue to believe in the vision, play, maybe even spend money that we know will just be another reason to be frustrated shortly after. I myself have given CCP a little over $400 since I started on day 1 of uprising and still continue to give more.

So in conclusion people hate on CCP all the time because, They invest money into the game and feeling like they get cheated by doing so. But once again thats your doing not CCP's therefore i dont see that as a good enough reason to be saying fu** you CCP all the time. I've played this game for a year now and i really like it, I've played COD 4 through to Ghosts BF3 and MAG and i find that the mechanics to this fps is somthing ive never had in all the other ones. Although i think there should be a few things added but i just play with what there is atm, with this game you have to be versatile and easy to adapt and not alot of people seem to be able to do that.

Been in here for over a year(In a few months, it'll officially be two years). I'm one of the more fanboyish members of the forum(a lot of people dislike me for that lol) and even I feel that CCP has messed up enough for a certain degree of frustration. But even then, I'm still rooting for them.
They don't deserve the level of QQ that goes on in this forum but I'm sure they at least accept a lot of what's been said.

Don't you realise they want people to pay to play the game. Which means although its free for you and me some have invested hundreds of dollars into the game already.
If people all stop paying there is no reason to run the game. This is not a charity... |

You do realize games like DC Universe, Black Mesa, Planetside 2, Hawken, Tribes :Ascend, Team fortress 2, League Of Legends, World of tanks, DOTA 2, Warframe, Hearthstone, War thunder...
I could write a paragraph of AMAZING Free to play games.
GTA online is largely free to play if you think you bought the GTA title like always for the story mode. GTA online continues to offer free DLC and support and have turned over 168 Million dollars in revenue from Micro transactions(Shark Cards). In a free DLC model.
Gaming companies in general are understanding Free to play is the way of the future for games. Blizzard even announced at the recent game convention that they will be focusing their efforts on Free to play business models.
