Like I said it could be an April fool's joke but I am not sure. It is actually very scary. Think of what people could do if they had a can of that stuff.

and possibly some improvements that could be made. (maybe they could combine the spray with the material they mentioned(read about it in a popular science when they were protoyping, pretty neat stuff. they made a car's externals out of it, only problem was it being pitch black inside because the windows redirected light.)
That would be funny if you couldn't see out of it.

Our first cloaking devices won't be like this. Active camoflauge will likely be our first cloaking systems, Plating that changes color depending on the background using cameras pointed in the opposite direction. It won't be perfect, and our current camouflage will be better situationally, but it will allow someone to blend in to any environment they find themselves in. It will be particularly good in urban environments I think, because of the many colors found in urban areas that traditional camoflages cant mimic.
If the spray is a real thing then active camo would be pointless because it would require power and CPU to operate and each plate would have to be specifically manufactured to the desire application. With the spray paint it wouldn't require anything but drying time and do a better job because it is actually moving light instead of changing colors.

That would be funny if you couldn't see out of it. They couldn't, the windows redirected light around themselves instead of letting it through, effectively becoming totally opaque like stone, wood, or steel. at the end of the article, the question was raised of what shining a flashlight inside of it would produce, results wise. never did get to learn what happened with that though Seems like a trippy effect may be produced, because so far as I know, there exists no one way permeable membrane for light. Would it simply redirect the light(basically, you could see forever, but at the same time, nowhere because the light from outside is being redirected around the object, but the light from the inside is also being redirected, like an asymptote in math, a point where neither can meet in the middle) or maybe magnify the light coming from inside like a magnifying glass, or possibly it could break the illusion from the inside?
They would just use tiny holes to allow light to pass through, like how they put solid images on car windows but you can still see out when in the car. I would say that something like that would be the easiest answer to a problem of a solid cloak like window or panels. Cloaks would be pretty useless if you can't see out unless you are just trying to hide some thing that doesn't need to move or be able to look at the environment around it.

i figured it was because of the date but I had to look it up. Probably not far from what a real cloak would be like, I just saw it and had to post it.

The problem with active cloaks will always be that they require resources and putting those resources on a person will continue to be very difficult. Sony has a screen that will roll up but the problem with any type of screen is that it has to produce light to and at night it would make too much light and during the day it would reflect too much or be so washed out it would be hard to see. They would be better off trying to copy how a cuttle fish changes color. Small color filled pores or sacks that expand and contract to change color but it would still require resources and that is the be drawback.
Power consumption and the size of the equipment needed is continue to be a problem of a good while, unless they are going to drag a big extension cord around behind them.

I saw the the date and figured it was a joke but with how science is now it is hard to determine what is a joke and what is real. I had to look it up just to be sure, the key teleportation was good also.
The only real cloaks are used by animals and they will probably be the only ones whom use them for a long while. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-LTWFnGmeg Evolution FTW!
