Hey.
Nobody can deny that swarm launchers needed a buff against the ads, and that forge guns were in a good place vs ads.
But ... A swarm launcher ( please remember this is a light weapon ) can now 3 hit kill my 2.2k shield 750 armour python in under 2 seconds, meaning that by the time the first volley hits me, the 3rd volley is being released. I cannot out fly missiles, and no will not use an afterburner. You have turned dropships back into the disgusting mess they used to be in 1.6 where anything everywhere would anhialate the ship.
Ttoday a sica mlt railgun turret shot off all 2.2k shield and 3/4 of my armour in one shot un hardened. What, have you done to my dropships.
Have you been super lazy and brought back those horrible 1.6 swarms again?
We as ads pilots can not see missles as they approach as they are again invisible, swarms are 90* turning around buildings so we cannot get cover, and even the swarm players aren't rendering until they empty a clip into us.
Your counter argument to justify this might be " well you can 2 shot a medium suit and light suit ", which is true.
However, you cannot aim at anything while being slammed into walls and forced into the floor by a volley of missiles. Heavy suits and.commandos both use swarms too making it even less likely to defend yourself, and the damage immediately forces you to back off to safety.
This is game breaking for us pilots .. All over again. I will not go through posting weekly / daily suggestions and issues all over again with the masses as we did in 1.6. This time, I may simply quit.
Im not crying for nerfs or buffs, Im saying this is game breaking for us pilots, it is impossible to break even with ships at 500k each, and swarms are doing too much for a light weapon and balance must be achieved!

I run a no hardener, buffer fit Python. I don't find AV to be utterly dominating. I definitely find it threatening and it can shoot me down if I'm not edgy - this is completely reasonable.
Afterburners are one of the absolute best modules for Dropships: trying to tank as effectively as an HAV is a bad idea, since we have less fitting, less base HP, more visible and are more vulnerable to the environment of engagement. The advantage of the dropship is speed and maneouvrability, so take advantage of your strength. |

Swarms need to be restored to there former glory (damage wise) since any dropship pilot any good can easily out run missles.
Seems to me your crying that you suck at both flying and fitting dropship... get good and don't ***** when you have a clear advantage on the battlefield.

Reaper Hey i got news to you which you dont like. Armor dropships (like the incubus) take much less damage from swarm launchers and can perma tank them with armor repairs. Quite ironic though armor is supposed to be weaker against swarms. Basically CCP is trolling shield dropship users now.

AV of any sort no longer need nerfs so that vehicles can become even more invincible.

Im not saying you suck, but if your as good as pilots I know, you are practically a fricken master at out maneuvering projectiles, which is awesome, but you have to understand that unless the pilot is brainless and can't fly, its hard enough shooting the things down

3 volleys of swarms hit you in 2 seconds? It takes longer than that to lock on twice after firing the first volley. Sure you weren't being swarmed by multiple people?
Swarms can still only lock on from <200m (175m?), so as soon as you take one hit, you should be getting out of there. You might take a second hit if you're not quick enough but if you hang around long enough to get a third, that's you're own mistake.

However, a single forge gun can 1 shot my 3800armour, 1000 shield incubus and deny me the entire map. I dont know when they got the damage buff but ive been 1 shotted by mlt forges and rails, and ive one shotted an enemy incubus which looked full proto with my full mlt sica

I can't speak for Officer Forges with Proto damage mods on a max damage heavy. |

Their "former glory" was sitting on top of a building and decimating everything almost effortlessly... they might need a buff, but not that kind of buff. A decent swarmer can get you to back off, and can literally flip over a Python. When everything does ludicrous damage and requires minimal effort, you'll see way too many people hunting down one vehicle for easy points. Any time I brought out an ADS pre 1.7, with no other vehicles around, I'd get 2+ swarmers and 2+ forge gunners to utterly destroy me. The most I could ever do was fly around the flight ceiling, or lose 700k. |

No forge gun can one shot you... a breach could two shot you, but rails can definitely pluck you out of the air in a single shot. |

I can tell you that I fly a bare minimum ADS, and I've never been shot down so quickly that I couldn't escape, except for when I did something stupid (like flying too close to a building), or it was rail tank. |

This is only in pubs. A well coordinated infantry based AV in PC will shut out ADS, especially ground forges.

Um... no. ADS do not need a nerf. If you really are seeing 20+ kills consistently, and AV is entirely unable to kill that pilot, then they just suck. ADS are pathetically easy to kill with two AV guys, but you only need one. |

Well I am a pilot & fly a Caldari python dropship, I say there is only 2 thing I fear in a match & it isn't forge guns & it definitely is NOT swarms, unless there is 2 people firing at me with proto Swarm Launchers I find it laughably easy to get away for a single Swarmer, Forge gunners are a little bit more tricky but only due to there health as staying around them for too long to take them out can be a death wish, but anyway to the point.
The 2 things I fear in my ADS is people ramming me with Militia dropships wile I am not looking in there direction & Rail gun Tanks, a Proto Rail Gun tank can 2 shot me in 2-3 Seconds flat even with my near to 3000 Shield Hp, I understand I don't have complex Shield enhancers yet but to be honest I don't see that doing much when it comes to the "Particle Cannon", with the Rail Gun Turrets 300m Range on smaller maps it can pretty much lock down 1 side of the entire map, I don't think I even need to explain what happens when there is 2-3 Rail Tanks on the enemy team.
in my experience there is only 1 way to combat rail tanks & that is to go on the offensive, try to stay above them as they cant fire up past a certain degrees, although I know how to take out Rail tanks though I cant say it always ends well as I am currently only using Militia Missile Turrets & cant hardly scratch Tanks so it can take a long wile to destroy a Tank, Most of the time I don't get to destroy them but instead I manage to get them to back off into there red zone buying me some time to get some infantry kills, all I can say is though NEVER at any time let your eye off were that tank is, even a Militia Rail Tank will destroy you like a bat out of hell if they sneak up on you.
when it comes to Swarms there is only 1 thing I can suggest for you, if you even suspect a Swarm launcher is about to fire at you just hit that Afterburner & get the hell out of there, wait a short wile & try to track him, if you can blind side him & get a few hits in before he see's you coming he is toast, Oh & try avoid built up areas when being attacked by forges or Swarms lol those places are death traps. |

wow they must have made a mistake then. i can see how damage modded rail tanks are still a problem when you get too close, but ive only died from swarms once and they had three swarms and a forge get me within a second of each other.
BTW Afterburners should be your best friend, they have saved my *** too many times to count. i can help ya fit your ads if you want but something tells me that you wont listen
can't wait for new racial dropships! maybe even the return of the logi???

Hey OP, I am only a new ADS pilot so I don't have the experience that others have but, this is a forum after all, so here is my 1 ISK thought.
The biggest problem is that CCP/Shanghai has broken the display of the swarm operators and their missiles. Again, or is it still? Hard to say.
From the tank perspective some of it has been improved but any detail display when the two elements are at different elevations (say the ground and a drop ship above it) is problematic. Infantry will not display at 210m if the elevation is much different. Line Harvest, North end rail gun installation, looking towards C and D. Troops will be invisible nearly all the time.
A simple graphic added to the mini-map (I know, there is really nothing simple about it when basic functions still fail) that would show the missile track would help. Then the observant pilot might have a reasonable chance.
CCP/either giving a Merc a reasonable chance is not very likely however. So, good luck.
And so it goes.
