I sense my new knife assassin days are coming to a cloak nerf end. I had some awesome decloak knife encounters. My fav: I was behind a wall, heavy was unkillable with SG in two shots and already had taught me the hard way that match! As he came to the corner I charged knives and side stepped out as he sprinted into me. There was a .5 second of him running into me and us both seeing nothing but armor motion. I released the knives and he fell +50 . It was great!
The Nano Knife and Cloak should work together to allow assassination. With the current cloak I still have to decloak, change weapons, charge knifes and stand right beside them. These kills are well earned and cloak nerfs will make this even more gimped. Promoting more shotgun assassins...
The shotgun not the cloak is the thing we should look at. No change since.. forever? The militia version is so close to proto its not worth the skill points or isk to fit anything but militia shotgun. FIT - the spread for lvl1 should be huge, by level 5 it focuses in to be more deadly CQC.
The shotgun has 2 variants!! You did not know? Ya there is a 2 shot SG that does more damage. But there is no reason to use it. This has been like this forever. Only the 2 shot SG should be assassinating any good fits. The 8 shot SG should take a bit more and be less effective verse heavies - promoting knife/cloak assassins. |

A good heavy would not have died to one charged strike. He musta been literaly down to 1/2 to 2/3rds hp.

kinda hard you don't say what suit/knives you were using
but going by the little information provided assuming min scout 5, and pro knives.
(200*1.25)*4 = 1000hp
unkillable in 2 sg shots implies that heavy is well north of 1k hp
It's perfectly reasonable to assume that the heavy was missing hp otherwise your story doesn't add up.

math tells me a 2.5x modifier would put the damage at 1250hp not 1400 or abouts
knives used ZN-28, prof, basic non scout suit.

I was admitting that my number was wrong but proving that the multiplier is indeed 2, but not for saying your story is iffy.

BTW shotguns changed in chrome, uprising, and 1.8 the proficiency ROF bonus was changed to shield damage and is the first time it has received a damage bonus, lol u think it's bad now? Scouts used to be able to break 13mps and ohk 30 m with a sg because of the sharpshooter skill that was removed in uprising plus range got yanked down to like 10 m.
The breach can't shoot as far as it used to and wit strafeeee scouts running around and other game changes it deserves a 3 clip not 2, and it's not cloaks ruining knives, it's that you should NEVER attempt to stab a shotgunner., and there's a lot of them now, but I still stab plenty, but I back it with a bk.
But I agree un cloaking should leave u with last selected weapon not alwaysLW

This has to be the 15th post I have told people this. I have over 10k using Knives. Has been tested thoroughly in PC and FW.
Using a minmatar scout lv V with nova knives pro V A fully charged Ishakone nova knives deals 1428 Damage with Both Swipes connecting. I tried to work the math to show it exactly but the proficiency and minmatar bonus have some kind of stacking penalty as the numbers should add up to 1437.
We tried to see if the 150% headshot multiplier worked as well but either it isn't applying or headshot have a false effeciency. As after multiple attempts to deal a 1k+ knife hit failed we came to the conclusion it is broken.
Fact before 1.5 I would hear a gong when I got a kill every now and then. No way other then that to know back then if you got a headshot. I haven't heard that gong since. Even through blind luck I should be able to pull a headshot after around 3k kills. If anyone wants to challenge my information send me a dust mail I will be happy to prove it. |
