@Contaminator Aquarius- This would be a new way of sniping; Multi-targeting. I'm guessing the wider the reticle, the shorter the range as well? They would also need to know what's attacking them, perhaps like a laser pointer, and looks more like a scanner with a wider reticle for shooting. In general the trade-offs for using the sniper would be closer engagement (for multiple targets) and/or a more noticeable sniper. I believe with at least one of these the weapons wouldn't become OP.

Also I don't think reducing range by increasing band is necessary. you just end up with a significantly reduced damage per shot because it is spread out.
@Contaminator Aquarius- I could agree with the 2nd point you made, but I don't think you understood what I meant by the looks of your 1st one. Apart from the sound cue, and seeing your health drop as you get microwaved, something must be seen that you are being cooked. The 'laser' would be shown when you are firing, which at that point the player could see it protruding from his body, either a thin line or a wide one cooking his body. This would be helpful to alert people as they are being preoccupied by another group of red-berries.

@Contaminator Aquarius- So wait, to make it clear, its a beam that continuously keeps damaging the enemy for as long as you hold the trigger? Or is it just a shot/burst of a laser? So confused now...
