The MD really only begins to shine with proficiency and damage mods. That said, on a min commando they become down right scary. The breach is extremely underused and a great AV weapon. With my MD proficiency 5 proto min commando I do about 570 dmg to shields and 660 to armor. You just have to be extremely accurate against infantry if you're going pure AV and a random red comes to hunt you down. Very rewarding to one shot that red with the breach.
The standard MD is a better all around weapon than the assault imho. You get less rounds in the clip and ammo reserve, but it has a much better direct hit and splash combo. It also seems that the dirt and smoke effect is back to help disorient foes foolish enough to run directly into the line of fire.
Join the in game channel Massholes. Sure, you can shoot at peoples feet, but you won't out DPS anything 1v1 that way. We are more than happy to teach the ins and outs of this fun but quirky weapon!

The breach is made for AV. It fairs pretty well against all but the tripple repped maddys. I use it in conjunction with swarms and it does pretty well considering the state of AV these days. Against infantry you need to be very accurate with direct hits if you want to survive. This comes up quite often when infantry comes to finish you off cause the pansy tanker is upset you keep chipping away at them.

Oh god yes. You don't even need to hop around. Point at any MD user and you will kill them before they get their third shot off. Most definitely not a noob tube. Takes considerable skill to be really effective with it. Anyone can lay down blanket spam to AoD an area. Winning 1v1 is what takes practice.

You'll lose 1v1 90% of the time due to being out DPS'd. Unless you flux them first. This is why the flux is the MD's bff.
