Yes I remember this. Itmhad something ridiculous like 150 splash 280 direct damage and a blast radius that rivaled the Mass Driver.
The nerf was deserved, but good old CCP whacked it with nerf bat so hard its been on life support ever since. Bring back CCP, it needs some drastic help.
Unless your a Computer Scientist don't tell me how Game Mechanics Work.

TBH it wouldn't be overpowered if you brought it back to the old stats now that hit detection actually works. The guy in that video could easily have gotten all of those kills using any of the full-auto bullet hoses in 1.8. Also, that video was 90% against MLT suits. All the flaylock butthurt was just the product of broken hit detection that made non-explosive weapons all but useless.

The biggest problem with the Flaylock was other direct fire weapons weren't registering hits. CCP spent most of that year improving game performance. Even the HMG didn't get its fix until December. Practically everything else getting range boosts didn't help.
The Flaylock will make a comeback someday when the Devs have a chance to monkey with homing rounds.

Maybe it's because I was a Masshole back then, but I didn't really have a problem with Flaylock Pistol users back then.
Honestly I didn't really consider anything to be OP (though AV did need a slight adjustment) until 1.4 when the TTK went to hell.

Did you ask why the weapon Was OP? was it simply just everything about it? Not.
Flaylock explosions where triggering Headshot Damage Multipliers... Same problem that plagued Core Locus grenades.
Flaylock then got it's damage nerfed. It's Blast Radius Nerfed, It's direct Damage nerfed. And the Amount of ammo carried nerfed.
4 Nerfs for a Problem that CCP created themselfs. This is the problem with DUST's community right here... Most of them are freaking morons that haven't a clue whats actually going on. |

Umm no, IF that's even true, it only contributed a small amount to the OPness of the weapon. It is effectively a smaller version of the Mass Driver, yet it had better Splash and Direct DPSs a wide enough blast radius to match the Mass Driver, lower travel, flatter projectile Arc, unerring accuracy, faster ROF, enough rounds per mag to finish of most suits, lower nanohive consumption, and still allowed you to carry a ligjt weapon.
The headshot multiplers for most weapons is only 30-50%, if the damage of the Flaylock hadn't been so powerful to begin with that wouldn't even have been that much of problem. It also doesn't explain where CCP said the flaylock was doing this, or where they said they fixed it.
The flaylock (standard variant needs to be equivalent to an Assault Mass Driver with a Breach Mass Drivers blast radius (Maybe a little more) So about
80/88/97 Splash Damage 2.25/2.5/2.75 Splash Radius 120/132/145 Direct Damage
or somewhere around there anyway. Enough to hit something with splash and do moderate damage.
Unless your a Computer Scientist don't tell me how Game Mechanics Work.

but seriously, it wasn't everything about it that was OP, and to those who said it had splash radius that rivaled the MD, it didn't. at proto, it had about a 2.50m splash radius, with around roughly 200 to 210 spash and 200 to 250 direct.
the damage may have been a bit too high, but the splash radius nerf wasn't needed. perfect example of CCP overnerfing a potentially very balanced weapon.

I run the flaylock as my side arm and it is AWESOME. I actually believe it is still a bit OP. I can't tell you how many times I throw a grenade and shoot 3 shots into a group of people hacking a null and just dominate. I love the flaylock. It needs no changes. If people don't like it then that is their problem.

Used to go 30+ and 0 with my dual flaylock fit. As of this build my best so far is 25 and 3. Its back. :) Stats are still the same as 1.7 but for some unknown reason I can kill people again. Next PC I will do my best to use the fit religiously. |

I use the flaylock on my assault suit.
Gotta say I hate it when I have to rely on it if my primary is out of ammo. Its only slightly better going around meleeing people. I am cautious of bringing it back to its former glory. The splash was a little severe. But it does need some serious love.
To those saying 'its only a sidearm' I will just say, ALL sidearms should be deadly when used within their perfect environment. Even the Ion is beastly when skilled up and in the right range. The Bolt and Scram pist is monsterously powerful in the right hands.
The flaylock? a Proto flay to any militia fit takes the entire mag with all direct shots, some of which may not register. Compared to the Bolt - 135 damage per shot, total 810 damage per mag, Basic varient. More forgiving damage model.
Flaylock takes sidearm op 3 as well to unlock

When the assault suit had a general sidearm bonus it was 4 shots, but only at proto level, and it still made the pistol terrible.
