I just have a single rank in it but I have been trying out all the different Caldari Suits. I have been trying to get a feeling on how to tank it. I am used to running a Dren Amarr Heavy so trying to learn how to use a Caldari Sentinel has been interesting.
Anyone have any advice on how to fit it?

My advise would be shield tank it with a single recharger. With the single low slot and what to place depends on what you want to use it for. Here is what I would put on your heavy
3- Complex Shield extenders 1- Complex Shield Recharge 1- Complex Armor Rep 1- Proto RR 1- Adv Side arm of choice 1- Flux

I've been really liking the Cal Sentinel. You only get 1 low slot, even up to proto, so for an HMG fit I switch between an armor repper or regulator, depending on whether I'm running with a dedicated logi or not. On the highs, at least 1 energizer, and the rest extenders.
On my forge gun fittings, at proto I run a repper in the low, 2 complex damage mods, an extender, and an energizer. Sometimes 2 energizers, depending on what I can fit.
One of the great benefits of the CalSent is that you get a damage reduction to shotgun, so invisi-scouts can't 2 shot you in this suit. Give you time to whip around and perforate 'em. I've been pretty please so far.

Advanced suit at least, full rack of shields and either plates, kinetic catz, or regulators.

Throw some shield energizers, some shield regulators, and some complex extenders. Throw in some other stuff, and shake it, do not stir.

Rather, I try to make the shields regen as quickly as possible, and play it safe. It already has far more eHP than a medium. Not like caldari suits are meant for stopping an HMG with a headbutt or anything.

I just went 42-11 w/ 2510WP in a basic Caldari Sentinel (with level 5 skills backing it up, however) and a basic HMG. This is what I used:
Caldari Sentinel C-1 2x Complex Shield Extenders 1x Militia Armour Repper Basic HMG Basic Locus Grenades Magsec
I normally run solo, so my fits have to be a little more self-sufficient, hence the Armor repper. As the CalSentinel can attain a base armour amount of ~480, an armour repper is rather nice, since many enemies will chip into your armour. Not having that buffer can make all the difference while running solo.
Another thing: since you should not EVER be using an armour plate on the CalSentinel (and instead reppers/biotics/shield regs), you will always have rather nice mobility. This can be great for flanking (ask the Minmatar Sentinels). While the mobility is worse than a Minmatar Sentinel and Biotic "tanked" Amarr/Gal ones, it is something you will always have. Milk it for all it is worth. |

It should be noted that there is a bug with the suit.
Shields are not starting to recharge after depletion in one second, it's more like 4.

The 1 sec delay does kick in if you you take ONLY shield damage (i.e., flux grenades). If the damage doesn't completely wipe your shields or if the damage goes to armor as well, then you get the regular 4 second delay.
I don't know if this is a bug or something CCP intended. I remember someone on the forums testing the shield recharge delays in 1.7 with the Amarr Sentinel and getting the same thing to happen. If this is intentional, kudos to CCP for reducing the Cal Sentinel's vulnerability to fluxes while preventing its shields from being OP.
