Day one: First game was incredibly fun. Player academy put me up against people in the same gear i was wearing and my skill showed. First person shooters give people with some relative skill a good time. 44/9 out the door of the academy and to the bears. Played another six games and went to ask questions on the forums. Was dirrected to find a corp and also to "get gud".
Day two: Joined a corp. Played a few games with them and had a relatively better time in general. Corp logged off after a few matches that we were able to play and I was left solo. So after a few games of getting the **** kicked out of me I said **** it and logged off. I dont need to beat my head into a wall.
Day three: Learned to fly a dropship! I took to these things rather well and have been complimented several times on the way I fly them. However I still lost quite a few ships to av rail tanks sitting back nowhere to be seen. Lost most of my isk this way despite having fun flying around the maps. No points to speak of from flying these ships however as nobody will stay in the guns and I dont have access to anything more advanced than gorgons and vipers.
Day four: met nyan san...all ******* day...Quit out after an hour of playing feeling like I had been barred from the game.
Day five: specced into advanced combat rifles. Still forced to play with lower tier rifles due to cost per fit and lack of steady income in game due to player lockout from even pub matches.
Day six: Realised most of my sp investment was somewhat pointless. Rather depressed about the game in general
Day seven: Learned that I dont like tanks. Or heavies...or anything with over 600 armor in general. Finally hit weekly sp cap.
Start of week two: Swapped my tank modules out for recharge things. Same time until death but could actually pop in and out of cover to at least defend an objective. Cant find squad to play with.
week two day two: find out that the rdv driver is an *******. He drops my dropships three times in a match from at least 50 meters up, killing them each time on impact...then when i get one in the air, comes in carrying another vehicle for someone else and swats me out of the sky. I take his plate number and intend on breaking his ship at some point. Stomped by better gear all day long. Managed to get a few kills here and there. K/d has dropped below levels that are acceptable to me.
Week two day three: log on and notice I dont have enough isk to restock my ten suits i keep in stock. Remember the night before and try and run free kits to get some isk. First three matches are against queue synced corps. Constantly stomped in the face over and over. Log off highly frustrated.
Week two day four: Finally get in a squad with a few players. Have three wonderful games where I was able to support my team with my commando. Got to rep some people. Made enough isk to finish out refits. Squad dispersed after a few matches. Proceeded to get my ass kicked and sent hatemail from teammates telling me to get better. Funny, I was top of the endgame report on that team...400 points total. Yay...
Week two day five: Decided to try tanks for a little while. Rdv driver dropped my tank on the roof of some building...got there after a friendly took it and drove off. Proceeded to run into combat without vehicle and just let the ****** have the vehicle. See my vehicle explode...die a little inside.
Week two day six: Get spawnkilled in the deployment less than 20 seconds into the match by a dropship running xt1 missiles. Wonder how he got there that quickly. This set the tone for the day. Cant find a squad most of the day. Ended up quitting very early, the rest of my experience playing out that this game just doesnt want me in it.
Final day of two weeks: Spec into level 4 combat rifles and gain access to assault combat rifle. Load up a fit with the rifle and see what the thing is all about. First game I got one kill then proceeded to die 5 times in a row without my weapon fireing for some reason despite seeing the animation. Lost money. Tried again and got a few more kills, no support and still lost money. Final match, every player on my team was afking behind our deployment zone running in circles inside the ship with me and a single squad mate out fighting 3 tanks and a boatload of prototype mercs. Most were heavies. No chance to push past the line whatso ever.
The game has barred me pretty much entirely from playing and doesnt seem to get any better. To those that got here early enough to not have to deal with the **** im seeing and feeling every match that i play, your lucky. To those that are feeling the same that i am, go throw things at ccp buildings. (dont actually do that.)
To everyone else, good game...or not...this game doesnt seem to be anyway. |

CLONE117 wrote:its only decent on certain servers(oceania).
most of the proto scrub stompers do seem to be complete dicks.that cry if they ever die once in any game mode by anything "less" than proto.
the more empty servers are alot more fun.u might not find anything to shoot at in some matches but its better then getting killed over and over..just try to stay back and not run into the major slugging areas. and if u do so. make sure your coming from some where that isnt covered with gun fire. as to so u can hope to get the drop on your enemies.
edit: i have noticed an increase in scrub activity around on my preferred normally empty server.so take caution. Joined oceania servers and ran into the same thing... |

Forever ETC wrote:Hey Aika, sorry I never stayed long in your dropship. If you still need help message me in PSN or ingame and we can squad up. If you need ISK just message me. Dont worry about it, i think i get like 15 or 20 points for a pilot assist for kills anyway. It wont amount to much of anything even if i survived all game with the ship. |

CCP Saberwing wrote:Hey there. Glad to have you with us, even if it is a somewhat sadistic experience for you at the moment I don't agree with the notion that we purposefully make the New Player Experience daunting due to New Eden "being a harsh place". Yes, that is true of the EVE Universe. But there is a balance to be had, and we want to make the game accessible to newbies. A better NPE is something we're taking very seriously, and while I can't share anything with you just at the moment just know that there is currently work being done on improving this. If you ever see me in game, feel free to send me a message or shoot me in the face. I have to say this. Through all the bullshit and everything else Ive experienced tonight and previous mentioned days, that last line somewhat made it worth it. Thank you for responding to this thread, but I have no idea what would truly redeem this game in my eyes currently. Ive tried everything now to have a good game including running free suits. They seem to be the only thing i can get even a single kill with in the last few days. Its ridiculous. This event that is coming up I have a bad feeling about as well. It will mean i can get more experience but at the same time, I feel that every single player will be out in force with their squads jsut to "farm" players like me. And that is really what they are doing currently. Im a little mob in the middle of a field that has no chance against any opposition that has been put in front of it lately... |

Hey, we're running squads again. Mal is back and he'll lead or I will. Whenever you like just toss me an invite...I have to keep trying or i wont ever get back into the game and someone donated a load of isk to me. Damn conscious x.x |

Monkey MAC wrote:Since you are here Saberwing, we would like to see a dev blog outlining the 'behind the scenes' changes you are making, we wanna know that what you as CCP are saying is indeed happening.
Also a blog actually introducing rouge to our community, where he hopes to push the game etc. He is a big player and we want to actually have formal full blown introduction.
Non-disclosure probably prevents them from giving out this information until they are told they can release it to the public.
On another note, why am I ten times as effective with the recruit rifle than using the assualt combat rifle x.x I upgrade to better stuff and become less effective. Also good morning to those around. Didnt think a recount thread would get this many responses o.o |

Vell0cet wrote:Nirwanda Vaughns wrote:We came up with an idea while discussing this topic earlier.
the battles take place over various systems of various security status. so how about selecting which security space you want to fight in which determines what equipment can be used and how much reward you get?
1.0-0.5 MLT/STD gear. LAV only -10% isk payout
0.4-0.1 MLT/STD/ADV gear. 2 vehicles each side same payout as now
0.0 anything goes 4 vehicles per side. +20% isk payout
that way its lore firendly (DED controlled combat regulations prohibit use of experimental equipment in empire controlled space) and when we get new players in we can gradually build them up. those of us with high skills will still have an advantage over new players but limiting HAV spam and full stomps of higher tier suits would ease the pain up a bit. sure my covenant assault will have 20% more hp but a noob will at least kill me with thier militia/recruit rifle if they catch me off guard whereas in proto i can turn around. pick which testicle i want to take of and then shoot There are several problems with this. The SP, experience, practice and knowledge of the maps, are much bigger differences than the gear. Vets wanting to pad their KD will still stomp new players in "highsec" matches with STD gear. The payout differential is minimal, and if you decrease it enough to disencentivise vets from playing these, you'll be crippling new players from building enough ISK to buy skills and try new things. If you "fracture" the limited playerbase into these gear-based tiers, and again by the 3 existing game modes, the matchmaker will have an even worse time getting balanced matches quickly. It would also decrease the liklihood that CCP could add additional modes in the future, because it would make the matchmaking problem exponentially worse with each new mode. The better solution (as I stated earlier in the thread) is creating 1 new mode that is only available to players under some SP cap. New players can still join regular pub matches, FW, and even PC (not likely, but still technically possible), but they have a "kiddie pool" option to play against each other, learn the maps, develop tactics, earn enough SP to build a solid fit, etc. To be fair mate, im brand new and generally wipe the floor with people in similar gear. Its the gear that seems to make the difference in my matches. Then again I come from playing the older classic rainbow six games. Like Athena sword, and rogue spear. So my gun game has to be up to snuff as well as positioning and situational awareness.
So it could just be experience on my end but most battles involving the same tier gear I come out on top. Win some and lose some but yeah. I think the idea has some merit. Just needs to be done correctly. |

Update: I dont know how to say this. Despite the support of players that are actually friendly and a hefty donation to my wallet where I would never need to worry about isk again, the game just isnt a game...Its not fun in the least to me. I dont have fun engaging any target and having no hope in killing them. Then the skills that I do invest into to make myself better, oh there not active due to some bug that happened in a patch. 30 seconds will fix it...If im being spawn killed I might have a shot in fighting back if the skills were actually active when I respawned to try and help push the line. This is only the surface of frustrations.
There is just such a huge gap between players that new players simply cannot get into the game to have fun. Not people that have a competitive mindset anyway. I have to go into a game thinking that im a pos cannon fodder soldier only good for less than a seconds worth of distraction regardless of the suit im playing. Ive tried light, medium, and heavy suits the only one of which was remotely survivable was the amarr light frame I put together. Its just ridiculas to try and do anything in this. Yeah, I get around 1k war points per match on a consistent basis but I feel like **** the entire time because skill makes ZERO difference when you throw gear at it.
In short, the donation will be being either returned to the player that sent it or the 703rd to help with what new recruits they might be able to convince to stay in this hellhole of a game. Eventually I might come back, but I doubt it. A game is meant to be fun when played, not something that because you were there first you just win and laugh at a person that tried their hardest to get a kill. Gear makes this game, not the player, not the tactics...
Thank you for the people that have supported me in this thread. At least some people in the community give a **** about new players... |
