The scrambler rifle has more range than the combat rifle so I'm not sure what you mean. Also, your question needs a little more detail. The best answer I can give you is that some weapons just have more range than others. Most shooters/games are designed that way. |

And of course I cannot confirm if these guys/gals used damage-mods or not, but in more than one encounter I was put down by cr on ranges over 50m in a fair and open 1v1 encounter. My shots registered and the opponents did too. I know this sounds like "He cannot be better than me, so QQ this weapon is op!" but it-¦s not. The effective range on the combat rifle is 70, 77, and 84m (basic, advanced, proto), so it could easily get you from 50m. Every weapon still does damage beyond its effective range, but the damage it does just starts to drop off from there. And they might have leveled the proficiency skill or had damage mods which could greatly help them. |

Slash Frenzy wrote:Ok, my information was not precise enough. With "over 50m" I wanted to point out that this wasn-¦t CQC fights. One particular encout was more at the range of 90-110m. Of course I use KB/M and my opponent most likely had aim-assist so more of his shots hit potentially.
I sum up: Subjective observation. The statistics seems to suggest otherwise. Maybe the dropped me because of 2 more levels in proficiency, damage mods and having more eHP.
Last question which could also explain my encounters: Does the damage drop of linear or exponantially towards the absolut range? Is this for all rifles the same function? I don't have an exact answer (hopefully someone else does), but from my experience it seems that the damage falls off rather significantly after passing the effective range limit. The drop off between optimal and effective seems to be less. |
