Infinite. Nuclear arsenal wouldn't even break shields, assuming our vehicle weapons are actually putting out 80GJ. A rail tank could destroy New York with a single round. Here's a fun fact: Six gigajoules is about the amount of chemical energy in a barrel of oil that is released when combusted. Detonating 14 barrels of oil would not level New York. Fun Fact #2: Average yield of a nuclear warhead 4,000 TJ(or 4PJ). Largest ever detonated: 84,000TJ. Largest non-nuclear yield: 240000TJ. Fun Fact #3: Yield of bomb dropped on Hiroshima 40TJ. Just sayin.
Fun Fact 3 correction: Little Boy (Hiroshima) was 63TJ (Tetrajoules) Fat Man ( Nagasaki) 84TJ So how we read this: one gram of TNT = 4200 J or 42KJ Winchester elephant gun is 7000 Joules of kinetic energy or 7KJ
if your rail cannon is creating 80 GJ and a bomb from the 1940s is creatine 60-80TJ then i think your tank would not last the night.
for those of you who think we wouldnt drop nuclear weapons thats fine. we have plenty in our arsenal that we could spam at the tank until it blew up. MOAB = 5.05 GJ |

Well, let's see.
A Madrugar, without hardener, is generally killed in about 4 or 5 shots from an 80'gj' railgun. Assuming gj is gigajoules (it is New Eden; they suffered a Dark Age so the unit joules might not even exist) AND the round itself has 80 gigajoules rather than that being the energy required to shoot it (we honestly don't know; the round itself could be 1 gigajoule for all we know) you are talking about 300 gigajoules of energy. Mr. Wikipedia says "1 ton TNT = 4.184 GJ"
300 / 4.184 = 71 tons of TNT to destroy.
This is obviously incorrect as 4 or 5 man-portable satchel charges will turn a Madrugar into wreckage. Going off of these numbers, I would argue that a 'precision' airstrike would work.

No seriously though, a lone HAV with no support would fare no better or worst than any current modern battle tank imo. Wow, you must think the Abrams or Challenger are on par with technology 20,000 years into the future. It would be like Godzilla vs the US military. A Madrugar would probably be heavy enough to crack whatever it rolls on. Nevermind nanomachine technology to constantly repair itself.
I may be missing something, but I'm pretty sure that I didn't call for a tank nerf before Uprising 1.7. - Atiim

That MOAB is not reallly a good choice for attacking tanks... being a fuel/air explosive those 50GJ are spread over a pretty large area. Some sort of shaped charge is probably a better choice.
Maybe if you caught it in an enclosed area the MOAB would work. |
