I say "Designed" because that isn't really how its being played right now, but FF is important to have in at least one type of public game mode. It promotes skills such as aiming, tactics, squad based play, communication, and whatnot. Kind of supposed to be a middle ground between pubs and PC (There is FF in PC) Its a good feature and doesn't need to be removed. Friendly fire in FW is what the community asked for in the first place. Get use to it. EDIT: One more thing. Factional Warfare is meant to encourage the use of squads. If you're going at it alone, don't expect positive results. If you go in queue-syncing with two squads, you will have better results. FW is not for the lone wolf. OB support is a tactical risk and choice made on the part of my corporation.....we are already deploying into contested regions and thus choose to make use of another facet of our corporations assets. If no other corp is capable or willing to deploy assets to counter our own they do not deserve to be protected or coddled....this is equally true of our own corp. No point being killed by either a slow / spiteful friendly or an enemy who sees the opportunity to have a few giggles at your expense. Calling in vehicles is always tricky. But either learn to except that there are assholes sometimes or go off to a deserted part of the map to call it in, then don't wait by it when it arrives. (you should do this anyway - enemy snipers love those easy targets. You see, CCP loves to embrace the metagame. What I've always had in mind when FF was implemented was to use it in unorthodox ways. Use it to betray your friends in the right moment to make that critical push and win the game. Instead of just using FF to grief others, you can use it to tactically hinder your own team and make you win the game. Your squad leader could "accidentally" drop the OB on a friendly location to kill half your team. It might get him kicked and barred from FW for a full day, but that strike may have been enough to cripple the team and have your side win. You could mislead the EVE pilots dropping OBs to fly to a completely different location to be ganked by a waiting fleet. But your ganking fleet could be ganked itself when that EVE pilot was actually anticipating your betrayal and brought his friends with him to destroy your fleet. But you could have anticipated this as well and brought a counter to the counter-gank etc. etc. You could join a FW corporation, rise through the ranks and become a well-known and trusted figure within this corporation, and when you have reached grand power and become a director or even the CEO, you use that power to strike a killing blow into the corporation and end it for good. This already happened with A.N.O.N.Y.M.O.U.S., a huge PC corporation a while back, and I loved to read about it. I do admit though that there isn't much incentive to do this when we can't select where to deploy in FW, deploy full teams or even have an open player market, but this kind of escalation and metagame is what me(and CCP most likely as well) had in mind when talking about the meta and FF. Players who think FW is just for "experienced" or "team" are wrong. But for you to shoot your team mate just for the points should be punishable, or remove the FF so EVERYONE can play. I shouldn't have to play only where I am told to play by the "experienced" players, that is not what this type of game is about. And, how am I supposed to gain the experience to become one of the "Elite" if my games are restricted to what "you" think I should play?
