1.-Passive scanning: All dropsuits have a scan precision and a scan radius. Inside that radius, they scan (see) every unit that has a scan profile equal or higher in number to their precision ("the lower the number, the more precise the scan is", hence the lower the number of a scan profile, the less it can be detected). That's why scouts are good for passive scanning, because they have a larger radius and can catch more profiles due to their precision. there are modules to enhance all these atributes: lower profile, enhanced precision and increased radius. Also different suits have different stats.
2.-Jets: Nah, assault dropships can be really fast when you learn how to fly them, and very effective killing infantry after some practice. I don't see how jets would fit in this game, not for the size of the maps, but because there's no point in being faster than a dropship and probably you couldn't hit anything at that speed. About people not using dropships correctly, it's because when you're not in their squad the time it takes to let you in is too long. If you want to transport people or be transported, you should use it in a squad, so you can coordinate on comms and request transport to certain destination or take others where they want to go. I do this all the time when i have a squad, we take uplinks to strategic places or move all together at the beginning of a match (especially useful in domination). When playing solo, i just use my dropship to reach a high place, and i don't want blueberries to get in, because later they won't get out when i try to recall my ship and most of the time they'll steal it and crash it. |

They would find their place in the food chain.
Not sure how they could scan for an entire team/squad? DShips can already do this.
We really have no idea what weapons it could have, I think tanks would undoubtedly have some defense against bombing runs.
Jets would have to cost similar money to DShips, can't Dships just ram each other now anyways?
ADS wouldn't be useless, it's the cross between a transport and gunship. We just don't have gunships yet. ADS would most likely be able to attack jets albeit ineffectively. Jets should serve as top of the air food chain but very ineffective at attacking ground troops. Air superiority is their main goal.
Jets would deny dropships, they wouldn't have a way to fight back and would be easy targets. Nowadays there are already too many threats to DS's. How would you flight a dropship having jets in the sky, forgegunners and swarms on the ground, plus tanks? I just think they will never fit. |
