Didn't want to edit again but I'm just going to say this about the topic at hand , all respect to you OP but .. When I play matches and they have five or more tanks on the side that I'm on .. they don't win and I have never won a match where that happened . Or playing against teams where that was the case .
Played one earlier with the same results .
That stuff doesn't bother me and I actually love that so I can ride and run around laying PM's and swarming so it give's me more than enough to do . Some time's even using a forge .
People whine about what kills them , what set up they can't kill , what role dominates all to just change this game for the worst and leave the issues un-attended while bickering and arguing .. killing the work and enjoyment that this game has to offer .
The real reason I play this game is because one has to work for everything that they obtain , granted we have event's like the one that is to come but working is what draws me .
The fact that there is no instant win button , thing's can be manipulated but for the most part .. you have to work and wait to achieve level's
Patience is key .
Stop asking for tiercide , your killing variety and the fun of this game at the same dam time .

I would feel differently if this game was a true MMO with open worlds and massive player counts, but 6 tanks on a 16 player team is too much. Do you think its fair that 6 LAVs and 6 tanks are equivalent in tactical value? because if not, I don't think it is right that they should draw from the same resource pool since it will mean there is one strategy (lots and lots of tanks) that is generally always preferable. On most map/socket configurations having 6 tanks on a team actually weakens the team, because it does not leave enough infantry to control the points. It is almost as bad as having 6 sippers. There are of course some map configurations were enough of the objectives are in the open where tanks can defend the objectives directly and 6 tanks are advantageous.
I have had to hoof it into town in my Sentinel suit on occasion because the vehicle limit had been reached, so I know as well as anyone how frustrating it can be when you canGÇÖt call in a LAV.
I find that when a team has 1 or 2 tanks out, that Infantry mainly try to avoid them, except for the dedicated AV. Once you get to 4 tanks, large portions of the other team switch to AV and tanks start dying very quickly. This usually leads to tankers who also have skills in dropsuits switching to Infantry roles. I think this would be even more effective if Swarms got a 12% buff to range and damage, but otherwise Vehicles vs AV seem fairly well balanced now that Hardeners have been nerfed.
It is also important to consider new tankers, who are specializing in tanks, and have no points in Infantry skills. If they canGÇÖt call in a tank they are sort of screwed, as they are not going to do very well in a Frontline or Medic starter suit.
Hand/Eye coordination cannot be taught. For everything else there is the Learning Coalition.

I disagree with the assessment that 6 players in tanks become a liability. The maps are generally open enough for tankers to successfully act as infantry on steroids. I have experinced situations where there were many tanks on the battlefield, and a good amount of AV players willing to fight them, but the tanks were so spread out that it was hard for one person let alone the entire AV group to find them; its quite easy for tanks to stay away from AV if they want to considering their speed. Personally I would not bother buffing swarms until the swarms damage application bug become fixed; the bug fix combined with a bug.
EDIT: I am having doubts on the idea, I think I'll let the thread die.

CLONE117 wrote:i have no major issue with tanks. only specific areas ill have a problem with but. id rather be up against 6 tanks rather than having to face another one of those stupid proto scrub stomp matches...1st off.. stupid and boring as hell..2nd. cant make any progress. and lastly. impossible to avoid.. unlike with facing 6 enemy tanks. im able to get around the map. i have some breathing room and plenty of places to take cover from tanks. and plenty of places to launch a counter as well. i can still make progress as well. they are merely an obstacle u will face in battle.. and its an easy to overcome obstacle as well. unlike those proto stomp scrub squads.
my latest and possibly last ambush for the year involved going up against nothing but gk0s with proto combat rifles.
yeah its really great that 2 tanks only extended the 20 second spambush match by ten seconds... I'm sorry, but those "stupid proto scrub stomp matches" typically have tanks stomping the non-proto team, too. It's especially fun when 1) they all camp spawn points (in the case of ambush) or 2) they shoot any HAVs you call in to answer their tanks with before your HAV even touches the ground.
CCP should really just separate Ambush and OMS again into two separate game modes. Ambush is for infantry only and OMS is for infantry + tanks. Then, collect data and see which map mode players flock to. If it's Ambush, then that sends a pretty clear message that players don't want to play with tanks. If it's OMS, then the answer is people like tanks and tank play interaction. If it's a wash, recombine the game modes, since people were indifferent on average.
