This is what trying to sprint as a knifer scout for too long does. Now the left joystick just stays whichever direction I push it
So two parter-
1- hahahahaa.. I guess I am out of game until I get to the store to buy a new controller. I was wondering wtf.. is it 1.8? Why am I moving all crazy and dying so much because I can swear it feels like my toon is fighting my every movement. Until finally, the problem evolved into an exaggerated and obvious state.
2- CCP- can you guys finally fix the sprint bug so this is the last controller I break?

I have easily fixed this on my controller before. It requires you taking apart the controller and cleaning the analog socket, and or replacing broken springs taken from an old sixaxsis controller.
Google it its easier than you think all you need is a small Phillips head screwdriver |

The sprint glitch is one of the most amazingly annoying mistakes ever performed by mankind.
If the button is for running, then damnit you better run if you press it.
Alot of times the sprint button is the only thing I need to get off a lunge for a nova knife kill, but if it messes up I just helplessly scat forward a couple of inches and that easy to shoot at. |

The controller is from when 1.0 dropped. So it lasted that long.
It's months of trying to sprint.. but then nope.. moving at a crawl, jam jam phew.. ok now I am finally sprinting. Toss in the fact I am knifing in CQC with heavies and I have to do that over and over... and you get this poor defeated broke down shell of a DS3 you see here.

you know you don't have to jam the controller in, right? just a light tap of the L3 and go forward. Once you start sprinting you don't have to hold down L3, it stays in sprint mode.
(not being condescending, just saying there are still a lot of people that don't know this and they've had similar problems)

My controller broke from L3 use too. New controller from back in Dec pre open beta. Dust had it's way with it. I hate the L3, R3 buttons and the sprint bug makes it 10x worse.

That is fine and good for regular sprinting, and yes I knew that. No condescension perceived
Lots of heavy CQC knifing is quickly repeating sprint walk sprint walk jump jump sprint.. etc... all within a few seconds. So if you are switching between weapons, equipment, etc and you plainly just try to sprint.. you end up moving in slow motion. like less than walk speed. it's a terrible terrible bug that was introduced in one of the 1.4 and after patches. don't recall which one. To get out of that slow motion sprint, you have to either crouch, stop completely for a moment, jump, or re-engage sprinting. When you have a heavy spraying at you, or multiple people, this can be a big problem. Toss in the fact I basically have 80% of my total kills as knife kills from uprising to 1.8, and it's just brutal to a controller to have been doing that for so long.

I thought KBM was fubar? Like it had it's own shitshow of problems?
but hmm.. maybe I should try it tonight in lieu of a brokeass DS3 and a lack of interest in subjecting myself to a big box store today to get a new one.
thanks for the idea, dude!
EDIT: Can you remap keyboard keys?

lol my DS3 is like that half the time, sometimes I leave it there so I don't have to move it manually, just set it to auto-pilot and cruise like a b0ss |

If you keep your old controllers, the joystick is housed on a potentiometer. I've opened up a lot of DS3s, and I've come across 3 and 4 prong "pots". If you can solder, you can use the old "pots" from your old controller to replace the bad one in your newest controller. It's easy, but if you apply too much heat to the board, you'll burn "traces", jumping wires between broken traces is not fun. |

Unfortunately not, you'll lose the ability to turn effectively when meleeing or grenading compared to the ds3 but otherwise it's hella better with kbm. Especially if you got variable dpi.

You can solder a wire on the two points that are messed up 'bridge'. You can also add extra wires to if you have more then two points.

I forgot I have a PS4 controller..... but not the right cable that isn't 3" long.
I could just keep the busted ass DS3 for the PS button, and get a 3' mini USB cable and done.
I think we have a winnah!
