CCP why do you force us to use blasters on the Assault and Commando suit? As far as I know the Gallente use Hybrid weapons this includes blasters and rails.
We can choose any weapon we like yes but to maximize our suits skills we have to use blasters.
Not only that but to have decent HP as a Gallente you have to sacrifice your speed this makes it extremely difficult to use a AR when you cannot close distance because of how stupidly slow you become (4.5m/s) and cannot take cover quickly. Since your never going to fix the AR can you make the Gallente bonus to hybrid tech.
In EVE i can tank the crap out of a rail boat by ramming him with a MWD then out maneuvering him (even with armor plates) and shoving plasma down his throat since his turrets are to slow against me.
In Dust I can maybe close in 9 meters before I am dead and being eaten by nanites, I did absolutely no damage to him and he still remains 63 meters away.

Slow? Commando? I never noticed my Commando ever being slow outside of the A-I (pre-1.8), though that was because it had no lows or highs. Gallenteans are supposed to be armor repairing strong, not plated to the point of turtling. That's an Amarrian thing, to plate everything I mean. Yes, while Gallente has the most lows, no, Gallente was not meant to be used only for plate slutting. I personally don't brick my suits, but that is partially because I have a playstyle similar to the Minmatar. That's right- I rep and kin cat. Am I slow? The only (heavy) thing faster is an Minmatar Commando or an even more speed tanky Gallente Commando. Do I have low health? Depend on how you look at it. I specialize in light to medium combat, which is normally between one to four reds. Can I tank all of them at once? Nope, but I'll drag them out to separate and pick 'em off, rep up, prepare for combat again. That's long term life, not short term like plates.
As for other Gallentean suits, no, you are not forced to armor plate them either. People see all the lows and say "Oh, I have to put plates there." No, you don't. That's why you're so goddamn slow.
As for the whole "Gallente should use railguns!" I'll say no. Caldari specialize in range, Gallente specializes in power. Yes, they are both hybrids. Yes, EVE gives a bonus to both, but Caldari is still range and Gallente are still power. We are supposed to be the alpha kings, but we are far from it.

I'm so sick and tired of hearing this. The AR is good as it is, very good.
Just look at how many uses it in PC at the highest Level of play dude.... My 3 dedicated PC fittings all c arry a Duvolle, its the only gun who never fails me, always reliable to put that DPS where it should be.
I use it all the time and its a very good gun, short range but otherwise very potent and it shreds anything short of a proto SMG up Close.

Take a good look at that speed number that's only two plates where are the other 2 low slots? For me it's repairers.
It's not about being slow or having a ton of HP it's about not being able to quickly close distance. I can be running at 10 m/s and I will still die before I can get within my own optimal range.

Hey if you want to use the AR that's fine with me but know that no matter how good you are with it you will always be better with another weapon, be it the BK, boundless CR or a Rail rifle.

Yes I have both that and the AR completely maxed out, do you?
The CR is better on average but as soon as the framerate drops, which it normally does in PC the CR is suddenly more or less useless. I learnes the hard way going 1-11 vs AE/NS one Battle.
And when it comes to Duvolle vs Six KIn I'd say the Duvolle is the better gun, not in Perfect open games, but make it a hectic clusterf@ck, AKA PC, and the Duvolle is sill better than the Six Kin. Or ay least its more reliable, which goes a long way IMO.

Not in city maps where the Equipment spam is, at hipfire distance its still the better gun IMO.
If not better, its at least good enough to make Your "should be fixed" argument void.
If you think the gun is so bad, why even use it?
And why indeed, why would you spec into a suit that boosts the gun you think suck? It doesn't make any sense....

Dumbing down the game play is really bad when they try to apply complex balance in a simple and unfortunately unfinished balance.

I'd also like to know why you specced into a race that you think the weaponry is bad. Its not as if you didn't know this before you specced into it. The role/racial bonuses are clearly stated on each suit you specced into. If you are an Eve player you should be very aware that those bonuses mean a lot when fitting a ship, in this case a suit.
Anyways, I too am interested in why the Gallente don't get a bonus to hybrid weaponry. Seems like a CCP 'dumb-down' tactic to me. Gallente are known to use hybrid weaponry in New Eden, always have been. But theres much in Dust that follows the New Eden lore at all, not in the least bit. Just take a look at the Amarr suits. 'Dual-tank' suits, which the Amarr have never been known to do.
IMO, it is what it is. You shouldn't have specced into something you dislike. |

I always hated the Gal AR, I would always try to use a weapon other than the AR in the closed beta despite the limited weaponry probably had something to do with the aesthetics or the general background of blaster weaponry. At the moment I have used my Gal Assault for nothing but the MD and a RR I don't really plan to use anymore....but since the new bonus changes it has oddly been calling my attention...I might look more into using some BPO Rifles I have with it.

Gallente is not and was never meant to be good at alpha in fact this is the very opposite of hybrid weapons. Hybrids are dps, they out dps projectiles with longer ranges but somewhat less flexible range bands. Gallente are meant to be quick, armor repping, and have high dps on hybrids. Caldari are meant to be slower, shield tanked, and have long range on hybrids and use missiles.
If you want alpha then artillery cannons from the projectile group is the weapon you mean. |

The Ar is still a good weapon no question, and its easy to use as well. The only problem I have is that it gets beaten by most if not all other racial assault variants.
Especially the ACR has nearly everything the AR can offer with more range, the ARR is close to the AR performance with much greater range.
BUt still the Ar is better than most guns in the game, but there are simply better options in the area where this weapon should excel thats all... |
