No, hot fixes don't count. Those just counter hacks to bugs, typos and items that had no proper QA. As is mixing the number of equipment versus low slots. That is not an improvement. It is a negative screw up.

They used the cheapest game engine they could get their hands on, found a dev studio in Shanghai to work at their own pay level and trickle fixes out while managing to break something every single time they make a release. Same old, same old.
What has changed for Dust is that there is a new Executive Producer (boss) at CCP/Shanghai for Dust. He came from Zynga the makers of Farmville. We have yet to hear what his new plan is for Dust. Hopefully something at FF will brighten our future and shed some light on the path forward.
What we do know is that VR will release on PC with Oculus Rift and on PS4 with Sony Buzzword VR technology.
And so it goes.

MMO? Mwahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a lobby shooter right now, you and many others are lying to yourselves when you call this an MMO or an MMO-FPS. Its not even close to being what it's suppose to be, an MMO-FPS.

We're currently beta-testing the mechanics of the FPS and ground-combat unit customisation minigames that CCP have added to the persistent MMO they already have as a complement and counterpoint to the spaceship construction, flight and combat minigames in the PC-based client for the actual MMO game which these minigames will eventually be integrated into.
DUST isn't a standalone title. EVE is also not a standalone title. Both of them are client-based minigames within New Eden, which is a massively multiplayer social, political and economic simulator. EVE Online is a PC-based client for the game, and is currently well-integrated into the core of New Eden's gameplay, with an extensive and feature-complete series of interconnected minigames for building and piloting spaceships as well as the tools for managing social and political connections and finances. DUST is far from feature-complete, with core mechanics still being worked on as well as core content yet to be implemented, and the majority of New Eden's core features are yet to be implemented into the beta client so far.
Elements of the social aspect of New Eden have been finding their way into DUST slowly ever since the game was in closed beta. The political side has seen its beginnings with basic Corp functions being incorporated into the game, but these are still limited in scope compared with the tools available on the EVE client. The financial aspect is currently only being simulated by the dev-controlled marketplace, instead of being a truly player-created experience worthy of New Eden. |

Dust actually use to run on carbon, the Fanfest 2009 demo was almost obviously made from the carbon engine. Although somewhere I had heard that it was literally melting the Ps3....That is pretty much why the closed beta sucked, they had around 2 something years to realize they had to remake a game from scratch, and keep in mind it usually takes 3 years to make a standard video game so by the closed beta it was like we were literally testing what CCP should have been testing themselves. This thing is probably from from a old CCP powerpoint presentation.

And in those last 2 patches we have had more content added and rebalanced than the rest of uprising put together.
5 NEW Suits 2 NEW Pistols 1 NEW SMG 1 NEW Equipmemt
Rebalance on the Rifles Rebalance on the Mass Driver Rebalance on the Laser Rifle Rebalance on the AV Rebalance on the Vehicles Rebalance on the Suits Rebalance on the Equipment Rebalance on Scanners
WP for Vehicle Damage HMG hotfix
Before that the most we got was 1 new Pistol (Flaylock) 2 new Rifles (Rebalanced anyway) 1 Map Set And performance improvements

by finish, we mean the base of the game ... like 40% of the game is still missing (medium ground vehicles etc) and 60% of the existing content has an issue with it, or sucks.

Battlefield heroes was fun. Battlefield 1942 is the game that dust reminds me of the most in all the best and worst ways. I think it is a pretty natural and intelligent decision to put someone that had experience with BFH at the helm of dust. |

Why would you assume that anything I said was meant to reassure a Merc playing down here in the Dust? Have you read nothing I have posted in the past?
I offer reality, snark, counterpoint and opposition to Dust Devs. I am the anti-Dev to comment on their perceived abilities (slim), their honesty (lacking), their trustworthiness (sorry, sneezed my coffee all over my keyboard) and the chance that this game will return to its roots (hah!) which was Chromosome. A very good FPS/MMO/RPG that had signs or greatness that has been subsequently crushed with the release of Uprising 1.0 and only managed not to completely suck for one month (1.5 or maybe 1.6).
Vehicles have been destroyed by turning them into Dumber and Dumbester play World Of Tanks In the Dust. True they are fun to play, enough - sort of. But the older ones were damned tough to play, expensive to get right and cost a bloody fortune if you got a little too loose with your magic plan. The weapons were a complicated web of abilities and cost. Some of the changes are good, while CCP/Shanghai has continue to prove they hate (or seriously do not understand) shields and those that use them.
They ruined this character's 18 months of effort. They removed the three basic items that made me switch from sniper (easy first choice that got very, very boring much too quickly) to Minmatar Logi. Four slots, high, equip and low. HP regen and Hacking bonus. All of those are gone now. Maybe the four slot equip is back now that scanners are pure useless junk and wasted SP/ISK and can be ignored like they should have been in the beginning. But pet projects by a Dev must be inserted in the game!
Yet many still ask why I play Dust514 if I hate it so? Well, true I hate the version we have now and have ever since Uprising broke my rail guns and nearly everything else. I have Zero respect for any company who's motto is HTFU and the Devs comprehension of what could/should be done with the game and their total lack of respect for the entire player community. They really do not care how much effort, time and hope any player has poured into their game. Because they change it with every single release since 1.0 with no end in sight.
I play if my friends are online and playing Dust. If they aren't ... no Dust. As Dust without my friends in chat, trash talking, laughing, joking and yelling at the stupid Blue Belles (heads ring when you dope slap them) isn't worth playing.
You want reassurance, try someone else. Anybody that is not KalOfTheRathi.
Welcome to Dust
And so it goes.

The proper attribution is from EA. I stopped being a customer of EA when they introduced Origin and their Project Screw the Customer for Ten Bucks program (since deceased). I did buy two of their games as gifts but have no experience with the online experience. Others, maybe even Lorhak, might be able to comment on the online success/failure/attitudes.

CCP/Shanghai promised the racial suit features a long, long time ago. Yea! They are finally here. Give 'em a medal.
The basic functionality of the FPS is still ... broken. Hit detection, targeting and being able to accurately tell if a target is actually sighted (versus being behind a wall, corner or the terrain) is still poor and Heavies can shoot through solid walls but cannot be hit behind them. And Railings cannot be fired through. Not mentioning all the gun play that causes screaming over the comms about emptying a clip into a Scout (whatever) and their shields not even going down (targeting/hit detection or guns not firing).
We also still have Rail Gun Turrets that fail routinely. As do Forge Guns. As do Missile and Blaster Turrets (just proved the last one), light weapons that don't reload (combat rifle will empty but will not auto load).
The fact that they delayed 1.7 was a positive but the actual content cost me friends to play with. 1.8 did it again and the hot fix to tanks got a few more.
Maybe you are happy with the recent changes. Many are not. Watch the charts. There are fewer in the chats I hang out in. Fewer to play Dust with. So keep up the good work CCP/Shanghai.
And so it goes.
