The hybrid-motor boat sailed smoothly and silently across the black, open sea, of Planet Bosena. The glowing goggles of the six men on board made the somewhat drunk locals dub them, "Four Eyes."
Their Black Armor shone bright in the midnight moonlight, and on their arms, the badge--the emblem of the Eagle, and the words, Federalnii Morskaya Pekhota, Gallente Federatsii.
The Privates in the back of the boat argued amongst themselves--this being their first deployment, it was no wonder they were nervous.
One private, Private Repin muttered, "For what do we need this beaten down island for? The Corporate Fascists can have this damned back-world to their own!"
Another responded, "Do not forget. They are our people, our blood, no matter how common..."
The Lieutenant, denoted by the gold rectangular bar on his shoulder, waved his arm up for them to be silent. "We are approaching targets. Check DAR-21's and lock and load. Ion pistols should be placed on Stun. Grenades?"
"Check, sir," responded Sergeant Ovsyannikov, the squad's Commando-class Heavy.
"Good," came the cold, professional reply.
Lieutenant Chuikov lifted his visor for a moment, letting the cool, sea air blow against his deep, brown eyes, as he warily stared at the area they were about to take. For the longest time, the CSF (Caldari State Fascists) had kept the Gallente at bay in Bosena, and the troops had been unable to take the Districts in Bosena for a fairly long time.
'Until now,' thought the Lieutenant. Closing his visor, the boat brushed against shore, and he jumped off.
Taking one quick look at his uniformed men, he smiled through his helmet. Tapping Private Repin on his helmet, he whispered, "Davai!"
The squad had landed at the bottom of a hill, and the area they were trying to reclaim lay over the top. As the men climbed nearer and nearer to the District, the Lieutenant halted them oncemore.
"Sarge, take left. Repin, on his ass. Private Ulyanov and Sikorsky, take vantage on right watchtower. Cpl. Ivanov, follow me."
At the bottom of the hill, two watchtowers beamed lights over the watchgrounds, and Caldari State Troopers from the CSF hunkered down, embittered and emboldened by the bitter cold. Inside the compound, cloning facilities that once belonged to the Gallente now produced and recycled clones to be used for the glory of the Caldari State.
* * *
Lieutenant Brown grimaced as he peered over the watchground from his tower. Flipping on his comm, he signaled the other guard, Sergeant Miller. "Oy, Sarge, a little frosty over there?"
"Sure is Lieutenant, I'd say I got the worst brunt of it, being closer to the sea and all." "Think about the kids, Sarge, just think about what'd they say when you go home tonight." "What, Lieutenant, so that I can tell them that I had another boring watch?"
Lieutenant Brown chuckled, and turned his head away from the other guard tower and looked straight in front of him. He could have sworn he had seen a shadow move in the corner of his spotlight's beam. As he leaned forward to take a better look, he squinted as he made out the shape of a heavy.
"Say, Sarge, looks like we've got some company," whispered Brown into his comm.
The line was silent. To his dismay, Lieutenant Brown looked over at the other guard tower to see not ONE clone but TWO.
"Sarge!!!" yelled the Lieutenant, until a cold hand clasped over his helmet, and all that the Lieutenant knew faded into blackness.
* * *
"Ulyanov here. Suka eliminated." A second later, the comm channel was interrupted once again, "Repin here. It appears I've--I've my first kill, Lieutenant."
Lieutenant Chuikov smiled, and nodded to Cpl. Ivanov, who had readied his Plasma Cannon to melt the metal gate surrounding the compound.
"Good work, the four of you. And Repin, next time, less chatter when posting kills," the Lieutenant muttered, with a certain pride in his voice.
"Y-yes Sir," replied Repin.
The squad regrouped, and headed into the barracks. Row after row of sleeping Caldari state soldiers lay unactive in their Cryostasis Beds. Walking over to the control panel, Lieutenant Chuikov flipped open all the beds.
Watching as groggy Caldari soldiers jumped out of their coffins, the Marines raised their DAR's and Lieutenant Chuikov yelled in Basic, "Hands up. You are all now, prisoners of the Gallente Federatsii."
Within seconds of his announcement, a couple Caldari elite had taken their nova knives out and proceeded to commit Seppuku.
"Chyert," muttered Chuikov. "Stun 'em!"
The blinding green bolts lanced into Caldari after Caldari, and the restraining glow assured the Marines that those Caldari soldiers wouldn't be moving for a while.
"Proceed with mission, Marines," cut a cold voice into their channel.
"Wasn't sure when you'd come in, Lead," retorted Lieutenant Chuikov.
"Less sass, lieutenant, and more do. Make us proud," replied the voice.
"Will do, lead, over and out."
The Lieutenant waved his men out of the barracks and proceeded to the Command HQ of Bosena, District 10.
The Caldari soldiers sleeping near the flagpole awoke to the sound of Gallente bootsteps and they scrambled to get in order.
"Fire at the Gallente scum!" yelled the Caldari Lieutenant, to much avail, as his men had already begun to fire in mass panic. As the blue bolts emerged from their Rail Rifles, the Marines responded in kind.
The DAR's proved deadly towards the Shielded armor of the Caldari troops, while the Rail Rifle's bolts proved ineffective in the face of the well-armored Marines, and the firefight was over in seconds.
The moans of wounded Caldari soldiers filled the air around the flagpole, and Lieutenant Chuikov grimaced.
"Repin, how many times did I tell you to finish your kill? Send them back from whence they came!"

"But, Comrade Lieutenant, they are already dying! Why waste any more bullets on them?" came the reply.
"You have a point, Private, but even still it is called decency of war. Do you leave a dying man to die? No. You eliminate him so he doesn't have to wait to die, he can die now. Does that make sense?"
"Yes, Lieutenant." Repin sighed and proceeded to fire upon the dying Caldari, earning him a few whispered thank yous.
Lieutenant Chuikov approached the center of the flagpole, which was really a hologram displaying the Caldari State Flag and Emblem. Squatting, he reached for his own Control Panel and began to hack the hologram's controls. Within moments, the Gallente flag hung over the District and a loud, automated voice announced over the loud speakers.
"All Caldari personnel still present on Gallente territory are to be considered Prisoners of War. Those who attempt to flee Federation territory will be considered hostile and disposed of in a clean manner. Stay, and you will be rewarded with the right to live. That is your only basic right. Life..." and the auotmated AI voice trailed off.
Repin sighed and asked, "So are we done, Lieutenant?"
"For now, private, for now..."
* * * The sharp crunch of the Lieutenant's boots fell harshly upon the plated interior of the Interior Ministry of Defence's hallways. Gallente Federation Emblems and flags hung at every corner, every wall decorated with images of veterans of the Great Patriotic War. At the end of the hallway, the broad wooden doors felt out of place amongst the modern, tech-savvy surroundings.
Opening the doors, the Lieutenant was met with a stout man sitting behind a desk. Saluting sharply, the Lieutenant announced himself.
"I, Lieutenant Dmitri Chuikov, have arrived. I salute you, Comrade Minister, for honoring my presence!" "Excellent, excellent, Lieutenant. Come here, we have a new mission to discuss..."
As the two began to plot their next mission, the Lieutenant had no doubt in his mind--life would not be this easy. Bosena was an easy planet to retake, as the local populace was highly supportive of Gallente troops...
But next time, they would be on hostile territory. Hostile ground. They would arrive on the doorsteps of the Caldari States--Caldari Prime.
Notes: Davai is a Russian term that is used broadly for a number of meanings, one of them "Let's go" Suka is the Russian word for B. I assume most know what this is is... Federalnii refers to Federal. Morskaya Pekhot is Marines, so Federal Marines. Federatsii means Federation. DAR-21 is my reference to "Duvolle Assault Rifle" 21 is a random number, but I felt that the AR resembles, in some very odd fashion, the TAR-21, and besides, I like the name, DAR-21 ))

Afterword:
Attention, readers. This story is the setting to a series I will be starting, involving a Gallente man who, in the process of fighting an eternal war, discovers truth about himself, the Caldari States, and the entire DUST 514/Clone and Merc Theme.
I hope that what will be contributed here in the future will be of use to explaining Clone Lore and the likes. Please enjoy this work--trust me it will not be all "Oh these men are superheroes--BORING!" There will be loss, there will be life, there will be romance--a slice of everything that I'm sure will not disappoint. So for now, please bear with me. I'll try to get to the good stuff by the third Chapter.
For all you Caldari romanticists, you'll get your share next chapter!

I'll have to say, you wrote a good story. But, there's many faults in the lore here, not to mention having the completely wrong idea of how the Federation and State people behave. While Solar Fleet is Russian, and their language is kind of part of the established canon, I find it questionable to have a group of Federal Marines speak the language, all have Russian names and adress each other like in the Soviet Union. Caldari committing seppuku sounds equally questionable too.
In general, this story doesn't feel like New Eden, you coul have changed a few names around and it would have instantly been a story based in WWII. You have the wrong idea of what the different Empires are, especially with the Caldari, they're not quite facists.

Very interesting. I thank you for your complement on the story, and maybe I may just be a tad humble and it may just be me, but I felt the story was rushed and poorly constructed. Then again, each author is critical with his own works, unless you're Ernest Hemingway.
Your point about New Eden, that's correct. What I wanted is to create a very backwater Scenario, a very low down and unimportant setting.
It's the next stop, the next chapter, that I intend to delve more into the modern feel, and less of the WWII feel. And you'll see what I mean, should you choose to read my next chapter, of which I hope you do.
I don't quite wish to keep with the story and EVE history, I wish to change and mold it with a few ideas of how Clones work myself, which I will reveal in my 3rd Chapter. All in good time, is what I can say.
As for personas, I'm not emblemizing the entire Federation with Russian people, but I'm at least sectioning this squad to be Russian. After all, would it make sense to you that a Russian be placed in a squad, with, say, Vietnamese or British? That would be most weird--it would make sense to stick men with men of similar races. Such as they did during WWII--blacks with blacks, Japanese with Japnese (the Nisei, I believe they were called).
I'm playing off, more likely, on the fact of the names CCP chose to represent the different factions of EVE.
You have the Caldari States. Notice "States." Ref United States, perhaps? A blend of Corporatism (and Capitalism) and Fascism? (What with socialist reforms that promote over-welfare state and reduce freedoms like Patriot Act and Obamacare? Patriot Act being created by Bush but strengthened by Obama Administration.)
Then you have the the Gallente FEDERATION. Note, Russian Federation. It's all a play of words. Now before you dismiss me as a quack, here's more suspicion:
CCP's name and emblem. CCP's emblem highlights yet another C, suggesting CCCP, or the SSSR. DUST 514. DUST itself may not be important, but on May 14, 1955, (5/14), the Warsaw Pact was signed.
Might be all conspiracy theory to you but I must say, Coincidence, yes?
Combine that with Censorship (on behalf of Devs) and whatnot, you have the perfect coincidence, or true setup, whichever you believe.

I find it hard to believe that mere names and a few numbers can justify such an assumption, which is incorrect in any case. Keep in mind CCP existed long before EVE Online, DUST 514 or New Eden in general. The connection to the Soviet communist party and the Warsaw pact date is far-fetched at best.
And again, you can't make one-on-one comparisons between Earth nations and New Eden empires merely based on their names, you have to look further into the politics and culture than that. If anything, Gallente Federation is the closest equivalent to the United States with their autonomous semi-independent states, much like the states of the US. But they are not American, their culture has large influences from French, and their language is based on French, called Frallente.
You can't make those kind of assumptions based on flimsy "coincidences".

Well, needless to say interesting. I will keep that in mind. But as for these stories, these are Fiction nonetheless. Maybe it may not tie in perfectly according to "expectations" of EVE Standard Lore, and by all means these may feel a little unorthodox.
I feel perhaps we should let our Literature speak for themselves, rather than trying to interpret things in some random manner that may or may not be true. In this manner, seeing that you are a writer, let us write then--each to his own.
What we create, we make our own worlds. Whether our worlds are next to each other, melded into each other, or too dastardly far away--well, that is for our words to tell, no?

What we create, we make our own worlds. Whether our worlds are next to each other, melded into each other, or too dastardly far away--well, that is for our words to tell, no? I'm fine with a little use of poetic license when creating this kind of fiction, in the end this is just fanfiction and unlikely to ever be recognized by CCP as official canon. The thing is though, New Eden has a vast and rich lore, with many chronicles, wiki articles and even a whole book dedicated to telling us more about this world and its people. Ignoring this lore in favor of your own interpretation defeats the point of basing it in New Eden. About a month ago another person who shall remain anonymous came in here to post his own fiction. Pretty much everything he wrote was made up by him aside the name Caldari, it was an entirely different universe. I may sound a little arrogant when I say this, but I know a lot about the lore, and many people in DUST 514 Fiction and Intergalactic Summit consider me a higher authority along with True Adamance and Dagger Two when studying if some interpretations of the lore make sense or not.
But I digress, it's still your fiction and you have a right to write it how you see fit. What I'm trying to do here, is making sure that you don't have the wrong impression of the lore, there's not much room for personal interpretation when roleplaying. It's fine if you make your own interpretations of things that have very little lore about them, like the specifics of the Intaki language, cultural habits on Intaki V or the firing mechanics of a scrambler rifle, I do that with my corporation, and that's what my blog is all about. But with things like Empire politics, things that have many pages dedicated to them, you can't deviate from what is established or people are going to notify you about it.
If you want to know more about the lore, I suggest you go to EVElopedia, it's the hub for pretty much all lore in New Eden.

Your story is very, very racist. I mean their is a small percentage of Caldari whom feel like the Caldari are scum. We don't like the Gallente but we respect them. When my character was young he had hate in his heart, until the winds guided him onto the right path. I liked the post I really did but I got a ww2 Pacific front fight feel from it not a this is space fight. Also you left out things like sensors and such and also an entrenched position wouldn't be taken by what sounded like a squad add some realism at least.

From the wording going on, I think that most, if not all of the Caldari soldiers were mortals. An interesting thing to note supporting this is the Rail Rifles, which have an attack bonus against armour, but the downgraded versions used by regulars wouldn't be as... Effective against immortal tech.

Firstly, you know that the US is a federal government too? Just putting that out there...
As for the May 14, 1955, ludicrous.
HOWEVER:
On the 14th of May; 2014 CE... CCP's game "DUST 514" was...

Assuming that this squad (which seems, barring the new guy; to be a crack squad) actually used cover rather than relying on just the superior armour, the chances of someone dying would be reduced somewhat. Especially considering that all of the troops were sleeping (thus would have been tired, groggy, disorientated, and unable to concentrate upon trying to fight back).
In addition, it seems that this district was being protected by a skeleton crew, based on the fact they don't appear to have enough soldiers for full day/night patrols (excluding the two sentries, but they weren't much use).
We are all a distant echo from the explosion of an ancient star.

Thank you all for your posts and comments!
If any of you have read the discussion between Denak Kalamari and I, you might see where I have been trying to get at.
Again, as I stated in my afterword, these are the very best of Gallente. They aren't superheroes, which we will soon see in my next chapter. I've planned it exactly like this--these group of Marines think themselves invincible after some operations in some backwater worlds, but the assault on Caldari Prime would prove, well, fatal.
And from there I hope to delve into the process of clone and clone making, and tie all of this into a post in IGS about Gallente and Ishukone in talks.
Please stay frosty and wait for my next chapter, which, hopefully, I can post up by tonight. I'll tie the two stories together, please wait and watch!
