Then you kind of deserve to be killed by one.
Just because you are oblivious to your environment (AKA not paying attention in the least) doesn't warrant a free handout.

Arggh this tanker ignorance is killing my brain cells
Your suit has a maximum detection range. You want to see tanks further out? Put on range extenders.
So basically, you're telling me, that you are both deaf AND blind?
Have you seen the huge change of ambient light that is splayed in front of a tank? I can walk across the map, look around and say, "I see lights over there, so it must be a vehicle".
Then there's the sound... "OH wait, that noise approaching sounds like a tank (turns camera) Yeah it's on the road to my left, so this area is clear"
I have NEVER encountered a tank where I did not expect one while running the ground game.
Sorry that my ground game far exceeds yours due to me being competent. But that's not an excuse to start crying.

Fine, i demand third person view and active scanners that scan 360 for me for 30 seconds. Also, i demand you buy me surround sound and that enemy tanks have different sounds than friendly tanks so that your points about situational awareness are validated.
I don't have surround sound, I turn the camera (as noted above) when I hear a tank because the speakers change volume slightly depending on what direction you are facing, and I find it easy to keep track of where allied tanks are headed.
The only vehicle that I'm ever surprised by are LAV's because they can turn much faster than tanks can, I have no problems with them however, because I can usually get out of the way in time.
Also, with only 3-4 major ground routes per battlefield, it kind of pays to take note of the busy sections to help determine where tanks are, and where they are headed.
