What's the word on the CPM1 elections? I noticed the candidates for CSM9 have been officially announced, as well as the starting date of those elections.

Looks like the elections will be well after FanFest at the moment. My understanding is that there is a fair bit of discussion about this among CPM0 and the Dev team but essentially no chance of an election being held before FanFest is over.
I suspect you'll see some type of announcement or mention about the CPM elections just prior or during FanFest.

This is probably going to be the longest election campaign in New Eden history. On the up side, any of the original candidates who are still around by the time the election is actually called will at least have proven their commitment to the position.
I know when I decided to cover this election and provide commentary I thought we were a week or two away from the election being officially called and probably only a month or so away from the election. Now, over two months later, this is starting to get old.
Hand/Eye coordination cannot be taught. For everything else there is the Learning Coalition.

The big reason it got pushed, I believe, is that we were distinctly told by the CPM0 that CCP Rouge was going to tell us about his grand vision before Fanfest, and that it would be pointless to hold an election before the new plan was laid down. It now appears, that CCP Rouge is no longer going to get that information out to us before Fanfest, which means the election is also delayed until Fanfest.
So we get another month of CCP Rouge being mute. \o/

Well you got to admit, it will make the announcement at Fan Fest a lot more dramatic if they donGÇÖt tell use what they are going to say ahead of time.

I like the hypotheses as to why it is being delayed.
1) We expect a low voter turn out and don't want capsuleers to know how few people voted to determine DUST's version of CSM
2) CPM0 has asked/requested it to be delayed because: Rouge isn't set up yet and they want to get things in order with any new changes to how things are run. because they are bastards and won't step down. because ccp is afraid of what will happen if elected rather than appointed people start talking to them and hurt their feelings when 7 people unanimously tell them they've had a bad idea and shouldn't do something.
3) varying levels of conspiracy ideas ranging from "this sounds plausible but I know it is wrong" to "I'm I playing Call of Cthulhu? because I think someone needs to make a sanity check."

Appia, nothing I heard indicates the CPM0 "requested" it delayed. But I was specifically told that there would be no point in holding an election before CCP Rouge makes his roadmap announcement.

Maybe that came off across wrong. I'm not saying they said anything like that, I'm saying that that is a reason people think it has not happened.
