The game changed SO much right at the time we got the respec. I went into Min logi without realizing all I am now is a squishy snack that has....wait for it....rep tool range and hp boost. All other logis get to suck similarly and have one piece of equipment that works. I can't imagine what it's like for anyone who specced into assault. They're just slow, deaf, and blind scouts that can't cloak now.
Now that we actually know what the new DUST is like can at least the medium frame SP be refunded? There's no point in being anything other than a scout, heavy, or maybe commando now. Trying to play this game with an underpowered suit is losing me ISK, pissing me off, making me feel like a worse player than I am, and burning me out. I took 3 months off after the aim assist bomb first hit and kb/m was suddenly unusable. If it keeps up like this I'm gonna have to take another long vacation. Having the (almost no) survivability I have and being targeted by OP scouts, while having such a narrow role, means that occasionally I'm able to find a situation where my role fits--but even then if I try to do anything other than rep heavies it's hard on me--but the majority of the time I'm trying to find that situation and just getting hunted down like game.
I REFUSE TO PLAY A GAME IN WHICH I'M FORCED TO BE BAMBI GETTING HUNTED DOWN BY XENOMORPHS.
LOGI SUITS SUCK B@LLS. ASSAULT SUITS SUCK B@LLS. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT PLEASE ONE WAY OR THE OTHER CUZ THIS IS IMBALANCED TO THE EXTREME.
THE LONGER THIS GOES ON THE MORE YOUR PLAYER BASE WILL LAUGH AT YOU AND THIS GAME.
You're so close. Scouts and heavies are interesting and fun now, but if you don't balance medium frames in respect to them STAT the game will start to feel deeply broken and unbalanced and shoddy. It feels that way now but it's just after a patch so people maybe expect that a little, but their patience will wear thin. Mine just did. It's almost gone. Then comes the DUST vacation. If you don't want all medium frame players to take a vacation and deplete your already small player base, please make a statement acknowledging and posing solutions for the medium frame problem. |

Breath in and smell the ashes.
Ive specced up until proto into min logi also, but since there-¦s so much shit to do and try out, I did not play logi once since update hit. Going full generalist is helluva fun. You specced into proto logi and haven't played logi yet? Okaaay, well come back to me after you've tried making Min logi work for a while. Goofing around with new stuff is one thing. Trying to make the suit/role that you've committed irrevocably to work well for you is another. I challenge you to find anything resembling a comfort zone (y'know...that thing that scouts have all the time now) with Min logi. |

I just kinda feel like scouts and to a lesser extent heavies get to have all the fun now, like the game is completely geared towards them. It's like they evolved to this new level and I'm stuck in the obsolete old version of DUST. I feel like an NPC rat. |

That's great for the heavies. I'm overjoyed for them. So ummmm....what do assaults and logis do to you? |

Believe me brother, my behavior has changed a lot since patch day! I am more aware of my surroundings. I'm constantly on the lookout for cloaked scouts. I avoid running from A to B alone. I try to stay in groups. Wait...how does this make me not Bambi?

Awry Barux wrote:What did you expect? You picked the medic suit. You might as well wear a big target sandwich-board saying "kill me first!". It sounds to me like you picked a role you don't actually want- as a Min Logi, repping heavies is your one and only real battlefield role, in the same way that spewing bullets is the heavy's only role. If you don't consistently have good heavies to work with, you're gonna have a bad time.
You should have put careful thought into your 1.8 skill choices. You already got all your dropsuit SP refunded, but you went right back to being a logi and it sounds like you expected to still be both a support unit and a solid front-line combat suit. That's not how role-based combat works. BrickedSlayerLogi514 is over, and none too soon. Get with the times. To have great repping power, you have to sacrifice your offense and solo viability.
tl;dr you specialized wrong and now you come crying to forums for another respec mere weeks after getting one? I have no sympathy.
I would prefer medium frame suits to be balanced rather than another respec given. I guess I don't seriously expect that. So let's start over. I don't want a respec. I do want to play the healer role. Now do you have anything useful to say?
I'm willing to sacrifice my offense. I'm willing to sacrifice my solo viability. I can't sacrifice my support viability...so what's left? Oh sh*t I have to sacrifice my survivability too?
No offense, no defense, no solo viability. I have to sacrifice everything so that I can be healer? That's too much. Too UP. They don't even make it possible for me to do my job.
Give logis more HP and better scan precision. Then maybe we'd have a chance.

Fly like a butterfly, sting like a motherfu cker. Or buffer tank. A buffer tanked mk.0 with an assault scrambler is a force of nature to behold. You're living in the past brother. Try it out and see. |

Then maybe we'd have a chance. No defense? You can still stack upwards of 800 EHP, and wield a light weapon like everyone else. Heck, grab a shotgun, they'll OHK 99% of scouts coming at you. However, your main form of defense comes from the heavy you're following around, his 600 DPS HMG, and the extreme difficulty of killing said heavy while you're repping it. As for buffing your scan precision, no- scanning is a Cal Scout's job passively and a Gal Logi's job actively. This is a role-based game: if you need scans, bring a scanning class. Alternately, try using situational awareness. Scouts aren't hard to see, even when cloaked, and a good pocket heavy will melt them in less than the time it takes get a second shotgun round off. I've seen plenty of effective Min Logis on the battlefield in 1.8, putting up solid scores and being a huge force multiplier for their squad/team. Plenty of logis are doing their jobs- not as easily as before, but still doing it well. Try harder? Hmmm....well like I said I have experienced glimmers of hope. I think part of the problem is that I have to play the game with a total team cooperative focus but the heavies I rep aren't always in that mode and it gets me killed. It pisses me of when I'm helping them but they don't try to keep me alive. Or all the times I end up in situations where I'm trying to find their dumb asses and get killed on the way. I'll give it more time....I do like the new role-based paradigm. I think logis need more survivability though. |

Oswald Rehnquist wrote:On proto fits it seems on a MK.0 You can fit 4 complex shield extenders, 3 complex damps, 1 complex cpu, a prototype repair tool, a prototype nanohive, and an advance cloak, while running an advance combat rifle.
With the cloak you get a signature of 17 (which beats 2 precision modded cal scouts), your shields are around 400, and your armor is just shy of 200.
Or if your not paranoid, you can drop the third damp in favor of a pg upgrade, you sig goes up to 20 with the cloak (only have to worry about 2 precision modded cal scouts), and you can throw on a proto nanite injector.
Doesn't seem like too bad of a scenario.
I agree with you that the assaults are lacking though.
Hmmmmmm.........with max skills the following fit is possible. Intriguing...

Well let me make sure to say this: DUST has been taking steps forward with every patch since the Big Step Back almost a year ago. I'm happy with the overall direction of the game and it's pretty impressive how much the game has developed in a year. All of CCP Shanghai's broad strokes are right on target. I'm glad cloaking is part of the game now and that roles have been established. I'm sure I'll feel much better when I hear how they're going to balance scouts and cloaking. I'm sure they will. We have to slog through until then.
I think the thing now is to start at the basics. I need to just go into random pub matches alone in a basic logi suit and figure out how to survive while being useful. That's the only way I'm going to learn and find a comfort zone. I'll be willing to sacrifice suits to learn because they'll be so cheap. That's my epiphany and advice to other logis. We need to embrace the chaos and learn how to move around in the middle of it without giving away easy kills. Logi is gonna be a special kind of kung fu from now on. |
