I find it funny that people are so gung-ho over "DUST doesn't matter; why do I play?" when they would never ask that of Kingdom Hearts, Call of Duty, Titanfall, or League of Legends. They all matter equally in the grand scheme of things; not a single bit as it pertains to your life. It is ironic that because the game sells itself as this huge epic intertwined story that when it falls short, people feel that nothing matters.
A single match in Black Ops "doesn't matter." Your ranked score in League "doesn't matter." Getting all the trophies in Arkham City "doesn't matter." Playing Monopoly "doesn't matter." Why is it so important that everything in DUST have to "matter"? If you do not enjoy the game, the socialization with friends, or are just capping because you feel the Skinner Box tactic to empty out your weekly bonus SP: I highly suggest you at least take a break from the game for a while. I did and I don't regret it.

But is it important for the enjoyment of the player and to the game as it stands now?
I understand the huge frustration with "where the hell is everything?!" because I have it too. The fact that it took over a year after 'release' for the dropsuits to get parity is abysmal. That isn't releasing EVE with only Cruisers; that is releasing EVE with only one race's Cruisers. The amount of stuff that should be in the game that hasn't been announced yet (gotta wait a month) and the amount of things announced that are not here (remember 2013's FanFest?) is staggering.
But does that stop the game from working as it currently is: a mildly competent shooter with a lot of hopes and dreams? I honestly hope in a year's time we look back to what DUST is and just go "WOW; sure has come a long way!" because the game should definitely be more.
