You'd need about 2 clips to kill a heavy with a bolt pistol, yet only need 1 for the rail rifle, TTK is a bit too long against killing protos and heavies with this gun. If you're trying to kill a heavy with only a bolt pistol, you're doing something wrong -- it's a sidearm, not a primary weapon. The way I use the bolt pistol is flank them, open my attack with the bolt pistol from afar, mop them up with my GEK/Duvolle.
So why is it that most other sidearms can kill a heavy in one clip?
Only the bolt, flaylock, and ion pistol can't.

Swarms work, forge guns work (Seriously your comparing a tank weapon to an infantry carried weapon) bolt pistols work, and personally, I like breach weapons, they work.

Ion pistol is a pointless gun
Lolswarms are useless except at proto. Even at proto it's not that good
Bolt pistols DPS is to low to be effective
many breach weapons like the breach SMG and breach AR are pointless |

Bolt pistols are selective weapons, and breach weapons cater to a specific play style. Ion pistols are, again, a selective weapon, to be used as a finisher. Pistols are supposed to be finishers, not primarily weapons. Smgs (the mini and caldari smgs) are meant to be used with specialty weapons, like swarms, snipers, and the like. Just because you can't use the weapons doesn't necessarily mean the they are useless.
Ion pistol is useless because of the scrambler pistol
Bolt pistol is not a effective finisher. Damage and DPS is to low
Breach AR and SMG have no play style. The standard versions are better
Unless you have a group of swarm user a tank can out-rep you. |

You realize some of these weapons aren't bad until you realize you're killing noobs with them. Plasma Works - not always... Takes a lot of patience. Could use some serious tweaking by CCP Flaylock - I'm glad that the days of Glaylocks are gone Ion - Works just fine Swarms - Rockets come out of it, but doesn't make much of a difference FG - If the hit detection is fixed, it would work just fine Bolt Pistol - You must be joking, it hurts whatever you aim at... Point is you have to aim properly not hipfire.... Breach weapons : Breach AR, Breach SG and SMG works i believe...
How people can defend these weapons I'll never understand
Looks like dust will be a game where only 1/2 the weapons are used
