As for the OP stop whining you don't have your crutch anymore. With the Hardener Nerfs a Forge Gun is enough to deal with 80% of Assault Dropship Pilots. Get over it.

Also, try seeing anything higher than 100m in an ADS, let alone hitting it. Try seeing anything and hitting anything at 100m with a rail gun, especially if its moving. I find them dead easy to shot down with a forge, mlt no damage mods. Or a railtank proped up on a nearby hill to get good elevation. I've taken one down from the back of a lav, couple of light railgun rounds to rear portside quadrant and most pilots will crash from the impact alone.
Don't try and take other peoples toys away just cause you can't go 40/0 anymore.

I have gone 20/0, 30/0, 40/0 in games before with my Python simply because I'm experienced at it. However, I often do not get to reach these scores, especially in the current build now seeing as forge guns wreck and swarms actually do damage. AV is at a perfect spot in my opinion. A clever pilot gets out of the firefight before he takes critical damage, which usually leads to his survival but prevents him from killing the enemy easily. Just because you can't one shot us anymore with your forge gun or rail tank doesn't mean CCP are going to listen to your whimsical cries of "nerf the ADS!" . If you want to kill us, get your squadmates to co-ordinate firepower on the attacking dropship; time your swarm volleys, forge gun rounds. This isn't a one on one anymore. Get with the times.
True I have seen you in action just before 1.8 hit, was darned annoying especially since you can't use a JLAV when there are 6 of them on the field. However I would say ADS need to be encouraged to take 2 side gunners with them more often.

Oh no? Wasn't it tankers and Dropship pilots complaing about redline railguns? Didn't tankers complain about the poor performance of blasters against other tanks?
Infantry said we wanted an AV re-buff and to stop hardeners being cycled/stacked. Neither of these were given to us, so if vehicle users hadn't complained about blasters against tanks you might have kept your crutch, tough luck though eh?

Don't try and take other peoples toys away just cause you can't go 40/0 anymore. mlt forge gun takes 4 seconds to charge and has a 3 mag cap, it can only kill a dumb@ss pilot, railtanks work too well, but a light railgun will overheat at least twice before even taking the shields off a python without extenders
Dumbass pilots are fine by me, although on regular occasion you can drop even the best pilots with a well placed shot, ADS are rather unstable and prehaps should even be made more so. But I have shot down my fair share of pilots using just a mlt forge.

DS complained more about rails than anyone I expected blaster to do badly against tanks since it was more AI than AV Hardener nerf = AV buff but they are stacked more because 1 hardener is now quite useless So yea infantry got what they wanted
There are plenty of threads with tankers complaining about RedLine Railsl YOU may have done but the rest of the tanker community didn't even your old friend Spkr complained about blasters doing poor damage to other tanks, that rails were the be all and end all of vehicle on vehicle AV.
So as I said it was to apease vehicle users more, the fact AV got a buff (after just being nerfed again) is icing on the cake as far as CCP is concerned.

Also extra point.
You say try seeing and hitting anything with a rail gun at 100m, if it really is that difficult increasing range won't make it any eaaier. That statement is the entire failing of your argument, your not concerned about ADSs your concerned that you have to leave the safety of your own redline.
