dropship ramming is indeed a thing.
for instance if you and an enamy viper are both flying towards a rooftop the ideal play is to ram the enamy dropship out of the air preventing it and its passengers from being able to get onto the rooftops, bonus points for being able to do it in such a way that your burning hulk of a militia shitfit or youself land on the rooftop position. |

An Incubus can slam a python and under most circumstances the Incubus will live.
One has superior firepower and maneuverability the other has superior hull strength.
Don't expect a fair fight from me if your python is vomiting missiles all over the place.
Just keep your dainty ship out of my airspace.
I reserve this tactic for those gnat pilots that run in and spit a bunch of missiles at me and then run away.
Sure it's a **** move but it makes me feel like an ORCA!

Never be ashamed of your ramming prowess. A lot of people don't realize how hard it is to ram a Python with an Incubus. I enjoy when people try to ram my 4700+ floating iron block. My armor has turned the tables on many a rammer, but I salute their attempts.

While I consider it a pretty cheap tactic I have done this in the past and yes it has and always will be a thing. You're just noticing it now because derpships have been pretty popular lately. 1.8 fixed that though. |

If you are flying ADS just keep moving and scrubs wont get ya, maybe some more skilled pilots will but then again they don't usually ram other dropships. And getting kills doesn't matter as much as keeping your dropship alive, not even if you have tons of millions (lol) cause if you are dead you are no threat to the enemy. So keep moving, at least keep flying in a circle if there's enough space to do so.
R.I.P. Pre-1.7 tanks, you will be missed.

Yeah, DS ramming is legit. Especially when there's a solo pilot camped out on the top edge of a building, using a side turret to rain death from above. Knocking those fools over the edge is always a pleasure.

Dropships are better at fighting ground units then they are fighting air units...
Dropships are more offensive then defensive...
Its just ass backwards concept for the dropship that will always leave them broken and imbalanced. |

If you shoot me with your ADS, it's only fair to ensure we both go down in flames. Besides, an ADS has a lot more maneuverability than a standard DS so you should easily be able to get out of my path. If you don't, that's on you.

With the Railgun nerf, it's more common than ever.
I pour millions of SP into my ADS to make it good, only to get rammed by a zero SP, 70k ISK Militia Dropship.
This must be how tankers felt when Militia Tanks were made so effective.
