Thank you CCP. Had not played since July of last year but picked it back up last week. Being a career SG Scout was too much frustration to bear at the time. However, I have noticed many improvements not all SG Scout related, so kudos there. You even ninja fixed the equipment delay, (although never updated my post about it grrr).
Anyways, it definitely looks like a much more polished game now, although don't get me wrong still plenty of improving to go, this is the first tangible signs I have seen of moving forward instead of just laterally. It's a nice strong thread of hope for this game to deliver on most of it's promises.
The Good - -Huge strides in balance. -Much better look and feel. -Gigantic strides in hit detection. My shotgun actually shoots bullets now! (range still sucks but at least it now works!) -Button responses are quicker and more accurate. -New cool things to play with. -New racial suits. -Better slot layouts and more common sense bonuses. -Cloaks. I know this will be controversial, but I actually think they were implemented really well, and I was worried needlessly I see. They aren't useless but are not going to win the battle for you either.
The Bad - -Initial Game load up still takes about a year. Quit asking me if I want to assign items already and let me in! -Still need some tweaks for ground collision. My RE's still disappear into the ground around Cannons which results in inconsistent results when detonated and are "invisible" to opponents. Also sticking one to a moving vehicle is hit and miss. -Need more maps. Just need more maps and map variations. New skins do not equal new maps. -Game Modes. Get creative. Also keep in mind not all map types should be in all game modes. -New weapons and items. Sure this is coming, but could use at least a bit more weapon variety in the same class. -More strategic map layouts. Could use a splash of cover here and there for those large open areas, although I actually get most of my kills from over-confident people in these open areas, they do need cover here and there.
The Unknown- -The big one for me is vehicles. I don't drive them, but also don't run into many problems with them either. I don't think it should take more than 1 RE for an LAV, but it does on most of them and I deal with it. Seems to be much closer to balance now though, (in tweaking range instead of overhaul). - Items. I only use a handful of them and they seem to operate as they used to. - Still something missing. It's much more fun now, but I can already see a few signs of fatigue as skirmish is the only game type I enjoy and it only took a day to play all of the maps for what feels like 100 x's over. This adds to the grinding sensation. But maybe it's only me? Maybe it's not the maps? I don't know but need something about 20hrs in to re-ignite the excitement. - The War Deck. I actually liked the barge room before the battle. I think a nice addition would be a common area for all, maybe some mini-games strewn through to earn some AUR with or something similar.
All items are my own opinion. I do not care about your opinions about my opinions, but that has never stopped you before. Feel free to re-order this list and add/remove what you will and post it in accordance to your opinions. I feel that the first truly tangible signs of improvement have finally been made, and it's fairly exciting albeit it has taken too long to get there. Here's to hoping they move quicker here on out now that they have some traction.
