There was a feeling on my part atleast that the scr pistol did not need the nerf if got. After testing I would say it was definitely not needed and has made it a pitiful side arm. I should at least be able to fire it as fast as I can manually pull the trigger and thinks to not even being able to do this the two submachine guns destroy it for sure.
Does CCP just want spray and pray to be the way of the game or am I missing something? |

It has the highest DPS of all the sidearms; Carthum has like 420.
Nerfing the rifles as they did the ScP needed a nerf to go with it; t was already arguably better at CQC than my ScR.

The Scrambler Pistol needed that rate of fire deduction to keep it more inline with the Bolt and Ion. The Assault was arguably one of the best sidearms I have ever had the pleasure of gunslinging because of its crazy RoF coupled with that monsterous headshot multiplier.

Yesterday I speced into ScP, no sidearm can be comparable to this weapon, even after the RoF nerf.
Use the breach ScP.

i had specced into OP5 & PRO3 with SCP's on Uprising day 1 - and i have to say, even after the "1 nerf for 3 buffs trade" of 1.8 - the SCP's remain still the best sidearms in the game.
you are hurting my feelings with calling it "pityfull" instead there OP - asides of them still having the highest Bodyshot-DPS of all sidearms and maybe even still the highest Headshot-DPS of ALL weapons in the game - do you know how satisfying it is to use it as secondary next to the HMG and drop a CR-using Medium-Frame at full HP from staggering 80 meters away out, with 5-7 headshots in 1-1,5 seconds? very satisfying!
as far as i can tell, the SCP's are still the most powerful AND most dangerous sidearms in the game. |

If it kept its RoF, the Ion Pistol would be TOTALLY useless because not only would it have the same effective damage resistance against shields, an insane headshot multiplier, faster RoF lol, range, AND damage but players would already have SP in it so spending points on other pistols would be pointless unless you RP. |

Scrambler pistol is still the best sidearm in the game. Can you one shot medium suits from 50m with a SMG? Didn't think so.
Pitiful? Try telling that to my TY-5 breach - it's always had terrible ROF but I've used it religiously for over 6 months and it kicks whiny scrubby butt.

Comparing the DPS in this case does not quite work.
I always run auto weapons because I am slow on the trigger and do have to spray and pray plenty of times. For the SCP to not even fire as fast as I pull the trigger is bad.

I find it really hard to use, I've only got the militia one though, I imagine the other ones are much better, I've had my Wolfman's ScP since last January and keep looking at it longingly.

I had trouble with it until I bumped the clip size up giving me a little more confidence in pulling the trigger each time.
Unfortunately now I am back to not trusting it thanks to the fact that if I double tap the trigger its not going to work.

I started using the ScP for this event and am now questioning myself why I did not spec into it sooner. It is awesome. Though I mostly use it to take down shields and then switch to a different weapon.

To say that it's still the best side arm makes me feel murderous. 43% is a terrible decrease. It's much much worse than it was, and it wasn't overpowered before. I liked the Amarr Logistics suit for the sidearm slot, but now I am regretful. The scrambler pistol was my favorite weapon. I used it almost exclusively. I never switched to another weapon unless I needed greater range. If you think that sidearms should only be finishing weapons, then I hate you and I want you dead.
If this game was fun, I wouldn't be playing it.

I use the CAR-9 Burst Pistol with Knives and I'll tell you that that gun has been heaven sent. I prefer it over my SMG now. |

It lost 43% and STILL HAS THE HIGHEST. Why do people not realize this. If you land headshots, the dps goes insanely high. |

I've been playing a dual side arm wielding Commando for the event, and as there's only the ScP for Amarr side arms, I'm wielding dual ScPs. I just don't have the time to get 750 kills, so I had to go for the 350.
I loved the ScP before, but with the event I had to not only negate all the bonuses of the Commando suit, but get used to a new firing rhythm. I was quite worried.
The one ScP I've had on my since the beginning of the event is the Breach. It hasn't changed, and I played with it like a year before, so I had to get used to it again, but it's great for long-range engagements because with it's high alpha, you're still delivering good damage past your optimal. I use it for CQC sometimes too, depending on what my target it.
The second sidearm I've switched a few times between the burst and the assault. Back when I first tried the burst I had a terrible time with it, so I thought it was garbage. This event has warmed me back up to it, as it has a high rate of fire and it's burst spread when hip-fired allows for the give that's needed in CQC fights. It can also be good at mid-range because when ADS'd there's no spread, so all three shots go right where you want them. Before this event, I was "lol, burst" but now I'm "Hmm, burst." *head nods of approval.* I once had a fight with a medium suit where I was backpedaling to cover while firing a salvo from the burst ScP and the first shot killed the med suit, the second implanted into his corpse, and the third went straight into the head of some poor scout who had tried to knife me from the side but missed because I was backpedaling. His terrible timing brought his melon right into the path of my third shot. Lol'd for a bit at that one.
I tried the assault as well and while it's not the laser-spraying death machine I once knew, it still has a considerably higher RoF than the base variant and takes some getting used to as well. In the end, I chose the burst for my CQC and the breach for my long-range.
TL;DR - I was worried going into this event that the ScPs wouldn't be up to snuff, but even with the huge drop in RoF, I'm having about a 70% success rates in fights wth my waddling, pistoleering Commando.
Amarr Master - All Amarr Dropsuits at lvl 5.

You know guys.. The ScP RoF wasn't really nerfed.
If you take the time to find the rhythm of when to press the trigger, you'd notice that Assault and Standard versions can be shot near the speeds of pre 1.8 pisols.
Mashing the trigger will significantly decrease the RoF. Try firing after every previous round leaves the chamber.
Hell, I got 800 kills from my ScPs in the last week and a half, so they can't be all that bad. |

There is not much that can be said to argue with this directly.
But:
With all the spray and pray weapons out there should will really have to be timing trigger pulls along with shot for shot accuracy?
If it was such a problem why not nerf the damage or even the headshot bonus which is where its true power comes out. Of all the ways they could have nerfed it they did it in a way that made it very difficult for those who are trying it out the first time as well as giving all us regular users a whole new learning curve.

I agree with you in some sense, but saying the RoF nerf made the ScP "very difficult" to use is a bit of an exaggeration. Those who are trying it out for the first time would find nothing wrong with the weapon: it's new to them and it will take some time to learn the ins and outs of it.
For veterans of the ScP, the RoF nerf would have even more of an impact as it changes what they are use to. However, as stated in my previous post, the limitations on the RoF could be easily overcome. The process for firing fast is not perfected by watching what happens on screen. Instead, it mainly serves as the introduction for the player to adjust and adapt to the rhythmic cadences of trigger presses. In effect, this enables the player to maintain focus on his or her opponent.

800 kills? Over how many hours? Are you playing mostly in a squad, and/or doing cloaky scout ambushes?
I've only gotten 245 kills using a dual ScP Commando over about 24 hours of play since the event began.

As fast as you can pull the trigger still requires you have the weapon aimed on target at the same time as you pull the trigger as oppose to holding down the trigger and swinging the gun around hoping to catch your target.
