is it just me, or are things starting to feel better with this game?
Maybe I just had a good match, or maybe it was just because I hadn't played in a while. I was running along with my HMG through the city. The sky was a moody evening, and clouds of mist and debris were blowing past. I was checking over my shoulder every few steps after a few close encounters. I started to shoot at an enemy, but then an enemy rail-tank rounded the corner and I narrowly escaped into a small stairway until it lost track of me and passed. I saw someone up a ramp park his car and try to take out a scout, so I helped him out and he barely survived, and then afterwards he let me man the turret and we drove off together. On the way we managed to circle-strafe a tank, striping it's shields with the blaster turret, and then we bailed out and I managed to finish it off with my Flaylock pistol before we sped off to war again....
I don't know, something just feels a little different now, better somehow. Anyone else feeling this? And does anyone else have a nice 1.8 story? |

To me it felt good back when you had 2 options.. Ambush (non OMS) and skirmish
Things were simple back then Tanks and AV seemed a perfect balance Heavys were rarer and could change any situation No RE, Flaylock, Ion, Bolt, CR, RR, Magsec, cloak, loyalty store New players in every watch Rarely saw proto stomping
I was happy to say it was a fun game back then but now.....the changes have been over the top, things are changed that had to complaint to them (Scramble pistol), the things that need change go almost untouched(tank reps), you can also see corps know this cause its rare as hell to see a Corp saying they are recruiting in the local chat anymore
I happy to play it but I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone cause it would never be fun for a new person to come in and be stopped every match their in

There's definitely more roles to be filled but I wouldn't say it feels right.
After 7 PCs in the past two days, which is how I usually gauge the gameplay, things are definitely looking up. Scouts can infiltrate and hold a point by their lonesome while the assaults go and keep enemies busy. Heavies are primo at holding points now, especially with their little brothers cloaked watching their backs.
The game is much more dynamic now. Still needs the rest of the content to be added, it needs to be complete before I give a whole hearted opinion on it. |

There are still some nasty bugs, and there are balancing changes that need to be made, but I'm very happy with the direction thus far.

The mechanics are better, but CCP needs to bite all the bugs and buff the UP crap (Flaylock, Minmatar Assault, AV grenades, Swarm Launcher).

'Right' is too strong a word. A good step, as been previously mentioned, sure. Limiting the number of tanks- awesome. Making scout suits just as fitting friendly as assaults - Great. Introducing cloaking modules- Cool A good step.
The game still has a very cheap p2w type feel to it. Without the p2w. The proto stomps are still a big problem that drives away too many new players. FOTM chases are only emboldened by the CCP nerfs and buffs I Win button tanks and God-mode ADS are still a problem
With so very many high end players the game just isn't as fun as it used to be. CCP should reorganize the focus as PvP being the end-game experience and provide a PVE experience as an alternative method to level new characters.
If it wasn't for the games where it comes down to the last tick or the last clone I wouldn't play at all. Those games are freaking awesome and aren't as rare as they used to be.
CCP Logibro is awesome.

I'm with you on the PVE aspect. That more then new vehicles or guns I think is going to save this game. We need that Drone invasion mode so people have an alternative to getting proto stomped in pubbies match after match. The protos don't bother me these days near as much as the battle academy graduates fresh off the boat tripping on the terrain and blasting their own faces off on my team, which compounds the proto issue. Breaking up the monotony while giving the newberries something to do would be a huge boon towards repairingthe bad rep the game has as is. That and adding back a corp vs. corp mode for corporations to go head to head without queue sync harassing pubbies/trying to catch a district when it's unlocked. |

The Golden HAV pilot whose Tackeon Beam Turret fires 400 meters, stats damage like a blaster but increases over time to a breach forge gun, and the over-heat shoots superheated coolant in all directions around the HAV killing nearby infantry.

I'm assuming he meant a heavy maybe? last time I shot a tank with a LAV blaster turret it couldn't do enough damage to impact the passive resistance on the shield. |

Correct it's just starting to feel right, after nearly a whole year of nearly a waste of downloaded updates for this game 1.8 is "STARTING" to actually make the game feel right.

The only thing that caught my attention was that you managed to strip the shields of a HAV with a small blaster? The damage threshold on shields is much higher than the damage a small blaster turret can ever dream of.

Whenever content is added to the game we are taking steps in the right direction. Only when we have all the basic content in game will we get proper balance. The patchwork balancing that we've had since closed beta will be a thing of the past when the community and CCP can look at all the stats of all gear and all weapons and balance things out having the whole picture.
I hope that the racial parity in dropsuits was Rouge's doing and that he's cracking the whip on weapons, vehicles and turrets too. Once we get the remaining infantry stuff and Min and Am vehicles things will get a lot better.

I hope that the racial parity in dropsuits was Rouge's doing and that he's cracking the whip on weapons, vehicles and turrets too. Once we get the remaining infantry stuff and Min and Am vehicles things will get a lot better.
Don't forget MAV, Light aerial, and heavy aerial, according to the Icon load screen those are supposed to be a thing eventually. |

I capped my SP for the first time in almost a year, and legitimately had fun doing it. I still think it's a long way off, but I did actually think to myself at one point, "this is starting to come together."
For me personally, I'd find it even more enjoyable if they could just get the game/engine to perform better (framrate, lag, controls, 1080p/i, etc). Well, that and PVE would be nice. |

It's a lot better in that they added a lot more depth and roles are more defined.
I, too, am looking for bug fixes. Am open sandbox world fully merged with eve would be pretty sweet :D

Uh, ambush and skirmish are still the only options. Daw and PC exist as glorified skirmish matches.
I don't understand the 4th point. It makes no sense. Before this it was all dominated by Assault Rifles. Because that's all there was. |
