I'm gonna provide a list of easy ways to kill cloaked scouts. Now, some of these may be obvious, but others may not. I don't want any hate for this post, just to help everyone out. Please list other methods in a reply below.
Now first off my go to tactic.
The Spray and Pray.
- I often use this tactic with a weapon like an SMG, but any high rate of fire weapon could do the trick. Basically, just spray bullets all over the place, this scares the scout into
A) Decloaking to try to fight
B) Running away.
C) You kill the cloaked scout
Those are the three common outcomes with the Spray and Pray tactic.
Double/triple teaming the scout.
One of the best ways to kill to kill a cloaked scout, is to outnumber him. If a squad mate or two shows up at your rescue, that scout would be stupid to try and fight. This will result in the death of the scout, or the scout retreating the area.
Do not chase!
Chasing after a cloaked scout never ends well for the pursuer. A good scout will lead you to his teammates, or set up a trap for you. I know i often wait with remote explosives set up, the second you're around the corner, boom! Motto, don't chase cloaked scouts. It will only end bad.
I'll add in ones that i see in the replies if i like them.
If you run cloak and shotgun, you're a scrub
Don't brick tank that scout, come on, get good.

lol dont chase scouts in general, well especially if they are going into some tight corridors or something. Remotes or a shotgun to the face definitely awaits.

I like to run them over with LAVs if that constitutes as a justifiable way to kill them. Nothing's more hilarious than imagining the QQ coming from an 'invisible' scout getting ran over for carelessly walking in the middle of the road.
Effective and hilarious. |

And when it's rapid moving, it's more of a blue glow than a blur. |

I think the cloak should deactivate if sufficient damage is taken.
This avoids decloaking from stray bullets but actually puts the cloaked user at risk if someone knows where to shoot.

It's even worse when you turn around an shoot them with a quarter of your shots.... and they've still got half their armour...

The cloak user is already at risk if someone knows where to shoot. All this does is gives him his gun back.

It's too easy for cloaked users to run away to safety at the first moment of trouble. I'm only relying on the terrible hit detection to tell me if I'm on target or not; visual cues are near useless and they almost always escape to safety unless I was lucky to land several shots and they weren't tanked at all.

Move the reticule around and see if it turns red. Strangely darkness is your friend, move into shaded areas as the blue shimmer is easier to see. Think about how you would sneak up on yourself and watch those directions in particular. |
