How are you using the Magsec?
It's basically a mini-Rail Rifle. Use it at mid-range, and duck into cover when you see enemies. Step out while already holding the trigger so you skip the charge time. It has pretty good range, a much tighter spread than the other SMG, and higher damage per shot (lower DPS at close range though, so don't let enemy SMGs get close).
If you're trying to use it as a spray-and-pray weapon in CQC, then you're doing it wrong, and should be using the Minimatar SMG because it's better for that job.
As for building the "perfect" Scout, unfortunately that doesn't exist. YOUR perfect Scout might, but it won't be the same as mine.
I'd recommend at least one Shield Extender. MAYBE two, but one is probably all you're going to need if you're scanning focused. Stack Precision Enhancers because that makes you more capable of locating enemies the way you should be. For low slots there are a few options depending on how your suit handles. Range Amplifiers are good for the best scanning capabilities, because they let you pick enemies up from further away. Dampeners will make it less likely that enemy Scouts will see you. It might be worth adding an Armour Repairer if you're often getting into combat and taking armour damage WITHOUT dying. If this isn't the case, then don't worry about it so much.
As for Equipment, it sounds like a cloak would be useful for how you're likely to be playing, because the reduced visibility and the profile dampening effects will allow you to flank unaware enemies and slip past Scanners if you're alert to the risks. Your second slot could go to almost anything. If you're mostly operating near teammates, then bringing Nanohives, a Repair Tool or an Injector can be good. Scouts are surprisingly good field medics, being able to quickly dash in, pick someone up (or patch their armour) then disappear back to what they're doing. If you're running with an organised squad, an Active Scanner might be more viable than it is for most suits, because even though YOU can see enemies, your passives don't share that information with your teammates. |
