Now, with the rail guns range nerf (down to 300 meters) there is a void left in Dust. This void is the ridiculous sniper-ranged anti-vehicle vehicle weapon. What I propose to fill this void is a new weapon: the Minmatar Artillery gun.
Before you poo-poo it, hear me out. Instead of following the fatal trend that CCP tends to follow (of long ranged high dps weapons) the artillery gun should have long range and medium damage. To deal with the other part of the dps value, it will have an ammo count of one, with a longer reload time. This would be the time it takes to chamber another shell. The dps should not be anything astounding, it should be rather pitiful really. This kind of mechanic would encourage more tactical play on the part of the tanker using it. If you wanted to get a kill on another tank, you would have to position yourself in a spot where you would be able to fire on them as they escape. You would have to do it from afar, as your pitiful dps would almost always result in you being shafted by any other tank that you get in range of. This makes positioning all the more important, as many maps have buildings or other natural nonsense that restrict line of sight.
As well, artillery would be exceptional at plinking away at supply depots, CRUs, and turrets much like rail guns used to, except now it would just be a slower process. |

I don't know actually i was hoping that the amarr,minmatar vehicle weapons would be any aircraft weapons or at last anti vehicle weapons with mechanics like the swarm launchers. I am looking for the small turrets getting back on all vehicles again. |

There should be artillery as there is in EVE. It has substantially lower dps than rails but it does higher damage per shot. The traverse rate should be worse than rail, significantly, with significantly higher damage per shot and a much lower ROF.
This is how they work in EVE and similar to what you are saying and it works well. They also have autocannons where the rate of fire is faster than blasters with less DPS and a smaller optimal but a longer falloff so they have a longer effective range. Currently blasters have too much effective range. |

Artillery was talked about long ago in a build far gone and may or may not have been confirmed
and the amarr are getting a pulse laser of some sorts

how about breach forge gun damage with a huge splash radius and a 4 round magazine?

One thought I had on this was by having L1 switch the firing profile from autofire to a Swarm Launcher-style lock-on.
Plus we need to leave Small Missiles as they are, rename them Small Rockets, then add a Large version, as well as a Small version of the current Large Missile turrets. |
