How do I handle a logi in the current state of dust? Seems like I either find a good heavy to hide behind, or I am forced to snipe from half way across the map. (I am not a good sniper)
Last couple of games I played, either I ran into a group of hostile heavies who wiped me the **** out, or I rounded a corner to walk face first into a cloakie scout with a shot gun, OR they were at the spawn.... Waiting for me.
The only exception to this rule is running into a hostile tank. **** tanks.
So, here's what I try to run:
Advanced Minmatar logi with repper, uplinks and hives. Depending on the fit, I either run an EXO mass driver or a standard smg. All other slots are tank. Grenades use up fitting I could be spending on tank. |

First off: Don't snipe.
Make or join a squad. Stick to your squad members. A logi is better of with teamplay which is kinda hard at the moment because all those motherfuckers with their new toys think they can be a badass solo-player now. A scout is a good asset for your squad for spotting enemies. A heavy is a good asset to kill off the enemies. You should be a good asset to keep them alive and supplied.
Place uplinks in good locations at the start of the game. Don't worry about people that are complaining about uplink-spam because guess what...everyone will use them. Well placed uplinks can turn the game easily. I would skip the upiink part in ambush unless you have a really good location (never throw them down at the start) or to help your team out of a spawnkilling location (but only 1% is smart enough to spawn on your uplink in that situation).
Place hives in good locations, this will help your team defend key spots by resupplying ammo and armor without you being there. People will complain about you spamming hives, but they will never complain for winning the game, they just don't understand the nature of the current support mechanics.
Keep your uplinks and hives alive. Then switch out to a suit with a reptool and/or a good injector and help out heavies (make sure you find a good one, not one that gets you killed all the time).

If you're planning on being a proper logi then you really want to squad up most of the time. You do get the occasion where you can be a decent logi for blues that know what they are doing. It will make the game less frustrating if you try and stick with squads, though.
Squad finder is always there if you've got nothing going on in corp.

Previous Post for another Logi :
#5Posted: 2014.03.28 19:04 | Report | Edited by: TXSTORO 1 I found myself in the same position when i first started. I'll tell you this, a really great way to support team and gain sp is by supporting Snipers and Pilots and of course dropping good links in great places. I learned that if i jumped into a blues DS he might travel to a great spot for links and snipe. Or jump in a tank with a turret, though these are more rare now than not, and jump out at opportune times to rep it before it explodes, No points but Good support and you might get some kills in the tank or dropship turret. I know others may recommend getting into the mix of things with infantry but unless your running a tight squad with proto bears and are ok with dying alot I would advise against it. Another great way that i wish more people would do is Logi Medics who stay in cover until the CORRECT time to revive and rep. Send me in game message and you can run with us or join my chat "Friends of Helghast" to run with others. These are recommendations for some one of your tenure, as you gain sp, tactics and killer gear then you can move on to the Gritty Logi Slayer plan.

You need a squad. I'm a full time logi since chromosome. I run ADV logi with hives, repper and injector. I have plates, repairer, shield extender and recharger. I use either an MD or a Scrambler Rifle or a Combat Rifle. I do pretty well for myself by first running with uplinks at the start of the match at strategic locations. Then I pull out my repper and start helping the team. If you are running solo, you're going to have a horrible time. If you don't have a team to support, your logi is worthless and will be creamed by everything on the map.

^^^ this.
If you were at least a marginally above average player you could still make a decent living being a logi solo in the past. Not anymore.

I ran several ambush matches solo today as a Logi running a 19,000 ISK total replacement cost suit (lots of basic/militia gear. I think the only thing "advanced" is the suit itself). In over half of them I was in the top 2 or 3 in WP. Now, I'll admit, when I was out running, I wasn't lone wolfing it. I would find a squad and run with them, giving them support when needed. Drop Uplinks and nanohives in key locations can swing a battle for your team. I also run nanite injectors to help bring people back. SInce I just started getting into the mix of fighting (used to run Sniper exclusively) my gun game isn't great but I can usually get a couple kills and 3-4 assists a match. However, the heavies I usually team up with love it when they can get into a firefight and know if they go down, they have a chance someone is going to bring them back. I will agree with the majority here, though. If you aren't squadding up, it is going to be a bad day for you. So if you aren't in a squad yourself, find a squad to stick with and help out. Follow the largest mass of little blue arrows on your compass and do what you can to pitch in and help out. They will appreciate it (especially if you bring someone back who is running a nice, expensive proto suit) |
