Extenders go 22/33/66. That is an advancement of 50% and then 100%. Jagged. Plates go 85/110/135. That is an advancement of 29.4% and then 22.7%. Fairly smooth.
Basic Plate: 10 CPU, 1 PG Advanced Plate: 20 CPU, 6 PG Complex Plate: 30 CPU, 12 PG
Basic Extender: 18/3 Advanced Extender: 36/6 Complex Extender: 54/11
It is significantly more difficult to fit Shield Extenders than it is to fit Plates. Every Assault suit has 5 times as much CPU as it does PG, exactly that amount with the exception of the Advanced Minmatar which is 4.97 times are much CPU as PG. In that case, by switching from a Complex Shield Extender to a Complex Armor Hardener, you are "spending 1 PG for 24 CPU." If we accept that Complex Plates and Complex Extenders give the same amount of "defense" (Plates gaining more raw HP than Shields but Shields being able to regenerate), it is in no way balanced that for 1 extra PG the Plate saves 24 CPU.
Whoops.
I totally didn't say Hardener. Look at my original post. See? It says Plate!!! Stop misrepresenting what I typed!!!!111!iieleven Don't worry about the "Edited by Joseph Ridgeson" bit...

If you want shields to give more HP buff armor repairers and buff armor plates to scale by weight.
Shields are more useful if using complex but armor is useless if using complex because the scaling gives negative returns.

While I do agree that Armour is meant to have a higher hit point pool with less regen capability. Shield is meant to have a lesser hit point pool with greater regen ability.
However right now the balance is off. Way off. Armour reps rep too little and shield extenders give too little additional hp. They need to be adjusted for sure. |

That's why they have a lower ehp. the Ferroscales plates which have no speed penality (like extender) have same ehp amount but with bigger CPU/PG demand. No they don't, the regen is built into the suit. If I run no extenders my shield recharge rate is the same as when I run 4 extenders. Your point would only make sense if putting shield extenders increased shield regen rate.

Armor (unless using a rep mod) does not self-repair, and if you are self repairing, it is painfully, slow. You get your shields back in a few seconds. Quit whining. way more than a few seconds like usually 10 atleast and yall can just have a friend heal you in like 5 with a repair tool CCP didn't get a chance to rebalance delays on medium frames. Look at heavies and scouts, their delays are at most 5 on Caldari. Besides, my armor suit takes 80 seconds to fully repair, cry me a river. Then fit better armor repair

Shields are good where they are IMO only thing i would do is lower the cpu/pg requirments, 54 cpu/ 11 pg -.- while complex armor is 30 cpu/12pg
At most if you want to buff it maybe 75 shields at complex, maybe buff the std and adv because to me those are just useless |
