Let me tell you of the story about the game that caused me to be anxious about meeting Minmatar Commandos.
So, I was in this Domination with my G-I, which is the standard Gallente Commando. All was fine and dandy until I spotted a Minmatar Commando duck around a corner. "Oh, well, that's cool. Minmatar Commando. Haven't see one in the field yet." I thought to myself. A little bit later, I was rolling with three other blues up through a pathway. Someone was raining Mass Driver shots down where we were going. Killed one of the blues. Me, being in the G-I and built for a little more speed than the average Gallente Commando, just breezed through the explosions. I lived, but the two living blues had gave up going in the direction we were headed.
That's where it started to go downhill.
Unbeknownst to the blues, three reds come bounding around the corner. Whoever was using the MD continue to lay down suppressive fire, giving those two poor blues two choices: die in MD shots or face the reds and still die. Of course, the reds mowed them down. By then, I was already heading towards the bastard with the MD, flanking around. By time I got to where he was (supposedly), he was already gone. Originally, I had assumed it was a scout because of the speed. Possibly a mythical assault. I searched around the area and I couldn't find the person that was MDing. A little bit later, I actually caught up to the MDer. It was a goddamn Minmatar Commando built for speed.
How do I know, you ask?
I don't know if I somehow gave myself away, but he immediately started to run away. Goes around a corner. Of course, I didn't fully realize how fast he actually was. I get around the corner. I see him go around yet another corner. Naturally, me being cocky with my own Commando, decided it to be smart to follow. This ****** jumped over a rail, went all the way around, got back up to where I was, and shot me in the back with a CR. That's when I realized how he had built it. A flanker. A smart flanker. Using his speed to the fullest.
And yes, I did actually kill him. I managed to nail him with the Plasma Cannon at the end of the game, but that's it. I could never catch him. He was either always laying down MD or running flank routes. I'll never chase down a speed Minmatar Commando again, though that was admittedly one of the better Commandos I've ran into.
