I think you misunderstand.
Missiles aren't particularly 'anti-armour', in my experience, despite what their damage profile might tell you. Tactical play is always the same.
Previously I had the benefit of rails trying to exploit their enormous range, and I was therefore able to sneak up on them while they were focused 400m away.
Now? A rail is like a giant slug shotgun.
Which hits harder with the same range cap than my giant buckshot shotgun.
Thereby missile tank's roles have been cut even further.
You must be thick or a terrible tanker my brother has a 6mil sp tank as his alt. It is missle and at close quarters he destroys any tank in his path
I can confirm that if you are facing anyone with any brains between their ears, railguns will always be better than everything missiles can do.
Your brother must be facing the typical moron mlt tankers if hes having that much success with the tuuret. You should ask him to play in PC, if he can do so well with 6mil SP in tanking! |

The railguns is easier to use and more powerful than the missile tank, and there is math to prove it if you can take the time to do it in your head. It's as simple as that. |

oh yeah, here's a test for you as well
how do you shoot at infantry with the missile turret? Are you aware of how the aiming mechanics work?
I know how they do and I can score about 4 kills per volley if I aim decently, my record is around 7 |

Anyway what's the problem you aren't the biggest predator on the field now? And it time to go cry to CCP because someone can out gun you? Infantry has the same problem you do when it comes to your problem with rail tanks we have to deal with other ground troops and however many different kinds of tanks on the field there are
no, its because missile have no defined role on the battlefield and are mediocre while they have the highest skill cap out of all the turrets
again, try using the missile turret in PC if you think you're amazing at it. Until then, you have ZERO credibility.
Anecdotal evidence doesn't mean **** if you're a nobody. |

and that is wrong. Here's a hint: it has to do with the turret's automatic motion. |

On the whole tanking think. I never said or thought I was amazing at it but it is quite hard to be bad at it and I'm going to go out there and say that if you find it so useless stop using it and move on I did that with 3 weapons so far if you can't beat it join it or adapt to it but most importantly get over it
you are just talking for the sake of talking, with no substance or reasoning to back up what you say
assault suits are flexible logis specialize in equipment
missiles aren't good at anything, when compared to the other turrets, they are supposed to be the mid field between AI and AV but their AV aspect is useless against shields and their AI aspect takes too much skill for too little reward
it would be acceptable if large missiles actually had splash or had no falloff or better damage to bring them in line to where they should be, but as it is now in every situation where you have success with a missile tank, it is much more simple and effective to just use either a blaster or a railgun to do the job; they are literally easymode as far as I'm concerned
also, I have never been hit once by anyone using large missiles when I play infantry, just to show how spoiled other tankers have been all this time
but on a better note, if you really want to learn the ins and outs of a missile turret then I'll tell you the two most important mechanics:
to fire accurately, you must wait about 1 second for the turret to automatically reposition itself so that the side that fires will shoot a missile straight at the surface you are aiming at. Yes, missiles will have 100% accuracy when you do this. You can test this mechanic by comparing how much the turret moves when aiming at a distant target, then aiming at an extremely close target like a giant crate. Which brings me to the next point...
You lose accuracy based on how far away the surface that the reticule is upon in comparison to your target, so try to aim at the ground or nearby walls when trying to aim at a small target
if you pay attention to your turret, it is alive and constantly moving to adjust its aim (they aren't just animations, they're calculations), it wont be as accurate as a blaster against infantry, but it can be used effectively if you master these mechanics |

Harpyja wrote:Yes, yes, and yes. Hardener nerf and railgun range nerf were two HUGE buffs for the railgun.
I still don't have a chance to take out hardened Sicas or Gunnlogis with my PROTO missiles. But now it's easier for them to cut through me and my nerfed hardener. I still have to dance around and wait for their hardener to go offline before I engage. Today I ended up driving in circles around a CRU staying on the opposite side of a railgun Gunnlogi. I kicked up my hardener and stopped the dance to engage and pop him when his hardener went offline.
Before the nerf I was able to at times soak up the damage while I outlasted their hardener and danced around them, evading some shots. But now I can't do that because the amount of shots they need to shoot at me has decreased while the time it takes for me to pop them is still the same.
I wouldn't say the range nerf was necessarily a buff, but the hardener nerf without a nerf to godmode railguns? what the **** were they thinking? |

Tanks are still OP as ever you're just upset because you aren't the biggest scariest predator on the field adapt or drop that play style
try reading the post, you might actually learn something

I don't even have the luxury of knowing I can outflank rail snipers, because they're operating in the same field as me.
I'll still need a damage mod to kill a hardened tank (even with XTs), so the hardener nerf doesn't really help me. (This is, incidentally, why I empathise with the people complaining about shotgun proficiency changes)
I can't fit a damage mod now, because then rails will insta gib me. I don't even have the defense of mobility.
No, these changes have, as usual, screwed over far more things than they thought they would. Stop complaining because tanks are getting balanced you think long range railgun shouldn't be able to out range your close missle spam bs? You should think before you complain You shout READ before you rage, moron.EDITED for spelling.
I can agree with this |
