Listen to Lee. His comments/suggestions are right on point. I'll throw a couple extra points on top of his just for some additional info.
Personally, I'm not really good at the infantry aspect of running into a CQC firefight. When I do this, I normally die a LOT. So I do Sniping and logistics. By Sniping, you can stay (somewhat) out of the main fray while still supporting your team. With this, I'm going to give you the best advice I can. Don't just sit on the redline waiting for people to pop out so you can shoot them. Get into an overwatch position where you can support your teammates. The one thing people like less than anything in this game is a lone wolf who only cares about his K/D ratio and sits there on the red line and doesn't contribute to the actual battle. If you have a mic, even better. You can be the eyes of your squad, calling out enemy locations/enemy droplinks/nanohives/etc. warn them of tanks coming in... In addition, if you are in that position and there's a firefight, if you can hit a couple reds and drop their armor/shields down, it will make it easier for the infantry guys to kill them. You also get a +25 SP kill assist bonus so it gives you a little bit. This is mostly for Domination mode. (one null cannon)
For Skirmish, if you are going to be static (which I wouldn't recommend because multiple shots from one point make you an easier target) get into a position where you can see 2 or more of the null cannons so you can use supporting fire on as many as possible. If a battle goes down at "B", you can support it. If it goes down at "C" you can support it. You can also occasionally pick off random runners here and there when you aren't directly supporting a firefight. However, what you will likely want to do (depending on the map and if you are running w/ a squad) is constantly move around to help where needed. If your team has taken 3 of 4 null cannons, there's a good chance they will be going after the 4th. Move into a position where you can watch that one and at least one other.
As for the Logistics, I'm not going to go into it at all because Lee put it all out there. Follow his info.
Last note, as for #1.. It's been said but I'll reiterate. Ignore the haters. If someone is getting pissed at you, he is not doing his job which is to make you better. Better players make the game more fun for everybody. When I first started I got SMOKED on a regular basis. I was getting stat lines similar to you... 1-15, 2-17, 5-19... But then over time it started getting to a 5-10, 8-11, 9-10... This is a game that literally just takes practice. It's the only FPS I've ever played so my learning curve was higher than most. However, keep it up and eventually you will swap it and have a positive K/D. The first time you have that 12/6 or 14/9, it's going to make the anguish and crappy times worth it. Then they will come more frequently. Just stick with it. Join a corp looking to help people like Learning Coalition, Dust University. They are specifically set up to help new players get the basics under their belt and up to par.
