The nerf to tanks was unnecessary to say the least. Tanks were not op it was the AV that was under powered. Any tanker, dropship pilot or lav driver can agree swarm launchers are underpowered. If CCP didn't make swarm launchers, forge guns and av grenades so bad nobody would say tanks are OP because they would have a means to counter it.
What will happen now is dropships will start getting stick for the simple reason they are now the most effective vehicle on the battlefield unlike a tank they an fly up out of range of AV whereas tanks and nailed to the ground. Then they will get nerfed and the vicious cycle will continue onto the next unsuspecting victim.
reverse the nerf and give AV a buff

Any other time, they are but an annoyance. |

I am a dropship pilot and a tanker and I think the hardener Nerf is good. Not only will it make hav battles more interesting but it will make tanks less invincible. I'm sorry but tanking is so mind numbingly easy I'm excited for a challenge.
I do agree swarms could use a buff, but I don't mind that hardeners are getting nerfed, oh no! My 5300 shields are resisting 20% less with my hardener on that I only use to fight tanka! What ever will I do!!! [/dramatic faint] |

People running double and triple hardeners and/or just repping through the damage would be relatively unaffected even if you increased AV damage. It would still take forever to take out vehicles as hardeners would still scale the AV damage increase way back.
To me, Judge showed that clearly in his video with his charts that there are major hardener problems. Swarms would need a HUGE damage buff to be able to counter hardeners.
People turn on hardeners and you can't even explode tanks with a bunch of REs. I may be wrong, but to me, it seems like OP is whining over the removal of his near invincible I Win button making him immune to everything except extremely skilled forgers or rail tanks.
I would've rather liked to have seen a more balanced approach to the whole issue. A middle ground reduction for hardeners either in stacking penalties, or percentages, and then a reasonable increase to swarms and AV grenades.
I don't say we need to have insta kill AV like in previous patches, but one guy should be able to make tanker think twice before going into an installation to farm infantry kills, and should be able to make him leave. Not where the tanker just activates double hardeners while tanking multiple AV, or just cycles his hardeners letting him stay in the same area for an extreme amount of time.
Always the last person to leave. Always the one cleaning up people's messes.

While I can agree with that I would have focused balancing efforts on de-incentivising the running of multiple hardener units rather than directly nerfing them. I believe that a hardener should allow and HAV to withstand some solid amounts of damage.... but instead of decreasing them to the current levels I would have implemented a 10% nerf to shield hardeners and 5% to armour from which to then test.
Possibly fitting costs could have been then altered to make stacking hardeners less viable. Now however I feel running 2 is mandatory and 3 on a Gunlogi if confident of Rail Gun with out damage modules.
