I like them. They seem better then they used to be. There not assault rifles or anything like that. But used appropriately on the right maps and they can deny huge amounts of space. The range on them is wonderful, and if someone wants to challenge you with a rail rifle....... well..... Lets just say that it doesn't work out like it used to (which is good, I know rails in EVE have more range then lasers, however, in Dust the LR is terrible close range while the RR is competitive, which is why I think LR's should be RR's in ranged fights in Dust).
There not all around weapons, but if you put a laser guy in a nice open field, with limited cover, he can mop up most enemies before they close. And if they do get close my ishukone assault SMG and 700 EHP Amarr assault has something to say about that 
I wonder if anyone else feels the same though, ive only seen a couple noobs trying to use the LR in close quarters the last couple days.

I was using it today and did well. I, also, laughed hard as f*ck when I melted cloaked scouts. SHIIIEEET I might go Amarr Assault! |

I have maxxed laser proficiency but its still an extremely situational weapon
still needs improvements
went all day yesterday being the only laser user

Yes but in return its almost uncontested in its specialty. Which I think is a pretty fair trade.

shoot laser and better hope for a kill otherwise the rail rifles win once laser overheats
shoot laser and a few seconds later get visited by the harry potter shotgun fairy.
tried domination and skirmish and it was cloak shotgun fairy spam
going to try ambush and if still cloak shotgun fairy spam then its Fallout 3 game time for a few weeks .

Yeah they seem a fair bit better than they used to be, I've been having a really great time shooting folks with them.

I noticed zoom was enhanced and ADS sensitivity was increased as well or maybe that's a side effect of the zoom. Regardless you can tear people up nowadays much easier. I also definitely appreciate the visual party that occurs when multiple laser rifle users enter the field.
I like to think of it as the longest smacking pole. Smack people from real far away and they can't do **** about it until they close the gap.....then realize I'm a commando and have a CR on the down low!

One day I'll get to try out it's new stats (prof 5 here). Got melted by one today in my 800 armor commando twice (with a resounding "whaa" on my end), so looking forward to testing the changes.
Right now I'm still dual wielding severely-reduced scrambler pistols on a Commando like a jackass.
All Amarr Dropsuits to lvl 5.
