I tried several playstyles but the endless cloak shotgun spam along with burnout from 1.7 rail rifles and TANKS TANKS TANKS TANKS along with burnout from YOU HAVE BEEN SCANNED YOU HAVE BEEN SCANNED YOU HAVE BEEN SCANNED YOU HAVE BEEN SCANNED YOU HAVE BEEN SCANNED ......sigh just made me decide to replay some Fallout 3 and other PS 3 games
Anyone else just decided to take a break??

No, I actually decided to go scout on two of my alts...
One is caldari, he's running MD with Bolt Pistol and the other is gallente and is running Shotty Plasma Pistol combo...
Though I started to scout on the Gallente guy before the refund, I put all logi sp into the scout now, since that character is mainly vehicle, and the pilot suit will be light as well.
I think it's a lot of fun, and will probably get a slight nerf. Loger gap betwheen decloak and shooting maybe... |

Fallout 3. Good choice. I keep promising myself to go back to that. Personally need to platinum ACIV and get my last DLC trophy from Deus Ex Human Revolution.

I have been playing a lot for the event and wanting to get better with the bolt pistol. In the right hands, that gun destroys. However, I did get a headache last night in a match against a full squad of Nyain... They were all running proto Gal scout/ cloak/ shotgun combos. With my bolt pistol I can usually beat them 1 on 1, but they always had two more guys running around me too and keeping track of 3 cloaked scouts is a little difficult.
I died a lot.
But your post has made me want to play fallout 3 again.. I love that game.

Shotgunning scouts being in power is something hard to get used to but has been around in DUST a time or two..
Kinda used to that gameplay and I missed it to be honest. I welcomed it back.
Cloak gameplay is new to alot of FPS gamers in general... It's gonna take a good month to get it down... And we are all going to take losses because of it.
But I am pretty sure after playing for a bit we will get it down.. Be able to spot it with ease and then the real tactics of it will start coming into play.. |

I've never been much for the shotty. For some reason it just doesn't groove with my play-style. I have decided not to skill into my previous scout suit for a few weeks as I test the waters with the other militia light frames. Good times. No cloaking skill either.
I did have some fun games last night though watching my brother-scouts cloak up and hunt people.... and I did okay without the cloak or any suit scout skills. My dampening was a bit off... but still, no problemo a few EWAR mods couldn't fix.
Oh, if you see an amarr light frame tacking you and making bad attempts to 'hide'... do not engage. He is probably surrounded by 3 other cloaked scouts....
Just sayin'....

What's happened to the Shotgun? Its an instagib now! My base shotty can 2 shot a CalSent, and 1 shot everything else? No wonder every cloaker is running with shotties.
The most OP weapon on the Dust Battle Field:
One good logi, one rep tool, and a heavy.

Nope still here if you know the match contains lots of cloaked scouts get in a LAV and killer taxi.
Or get a heavy friend and walk around back to back
Or get a gallante logi with a Scanner and use a Mass Driver
Or get a Scrambler because they still 1 shot a good portion of the suits
Or get a Shotgun on a Sentinel, they get you once then you blast em in the face.
Unless your a Computer Scientist don't tell me how Game Mechanics Work.

nope im playing wait on the letter for scout shimmer with a hmg514. have to say its a lot of fun though scouts dieing with the vloak active ruins my enjoyment of the ragdoll effects.
ccp you broke the forge. skills are not being applied till 30 secs after spawn fixes before nerfs thank you.

The title of your thread is misleading. I was going to say that yes it's going to take me a while before I go full into scouts but I do plan on doing so.
No I'm very excited about the changes they're making. It breaks 4 months of monotonous FOTM bullshit. I even threw on my 30 day active booster for this sidearm/commando event.

Biggest fun since a long time though...
It would be nice if you had to decloak completely before shooting at somebody...
I actually started my third scout today, on this character I skilled into minmatar lv3... Running it with CR SMG but without a cloak.

Cloak has exploits that boost it atm, so it's FOTW. As they hotfix those expect to see most of those cloaks vanish.
Also I'm happily getting better ratio's now since I mainly use a LR, and it's actually worth using now (If still not as good as the RR at nearly every range), so suddenly my weapon actually does damage. |

Personally I love watching them cloak then popping their heads with my rail rifle. Might not be as strong as it was before, but I still love it. I love stabbing them with my nova knives even more though. To the people who think using a shotgun on a scout makes you a ninja... It only takes one knife hit to kill a scout, and those knives hit twice.
Cloaked commando heavies that run shotguns though...
I will stab you in the back! Unless you see me, in which case I will hit that suicide button so fast...

I just think to myself every time I get killed by a cloak/shotty 'Yeah you have to be near invisible with an easy kill weapon in order to get a kill moron'. Now don't get me wrong there are some good scouts that use cloak. But overall, cloak/shotty doesn't impress me. |

p.s - its not the cloak that gives scouts the edge, its the passive scans. I know some are brick tanking the scouts but for me personally, I like to run a near full ewar setup with speed. Its an absolute glass cannon and it is all about the skill to survive and out maneuver. |

As a Heavy, I approve of Scout spam. So many kills, so few rounds used.
These chumps don't even know how to do it right - just like when they tried and failed spamming Heavies.
Now I have my FGs pretty much maxed out and most HAVs don't get to **** with my team.
Such a high percentage of scrubtards on the field trying to compensate with Proto gear that I can't stop profiting.

When I'm not in a tank I'm running an ewar cal scout equippedwith 2 complex range amps and 3 adv precision enhancers and a Rail rifle . It's great for flanking and finding all those little shotty scouts the rail rifle also allows me to engage them at a range that nullifies their shotguns.

I took a bit of a break because cloaking (with armor stacked) just feels totally wrong in a FPS, and it had me really not enjoying the game.
Then PC heated back up, and the competitive aspect of this game and wanting to play with my friends kicked right back in...and here I am. |

I just came back from hiatus that started about a week into 1.8. granted my first 2 games were utter rubbish but since then I haven't pulled lower than a 2.5 kdr and haven't died more than 5 times in a match.

I am burnt out from the game as well. I am going to finish my LV60 Monk on Inferno mode in Diablo 3 (that would be 6 lvl60 characters), Replay and beat Darksiders 1, and I have all of these other games that I just started to neglect like The 100 Witch Knight, PES 2014, Payday 2, Tomb Raider, KHOne REmix, and a few others. I also need to buy my PS4 to play MGS, Watch Dogs, and Infamous 2nd Son.
Unfortunately I am a Min-Scout so running shotgun effectively has drawbacks. I have skilled less than 100k into Vehicles and only use the MLT for S&G's.
In game, I think I'm going to delete all of my fits and pick one suit at a time and finish off ALL of my inventory (except for officer weapons) until there is nothing left. Just go into ambush with whatever crazy combinations of stuff I can come up with.
I have been experimenting with the Gal Assault which is quite a good Assault Tank. Built in reps, reasonable slot layout allowing for a lot of damage mods for your AR. The bonus to, basically, the AR is sick. I'm hitting things with my Gek I wasn't able to do before at ranges I didn't think the AR would be effective at.

Also, Proto Trolling until I'm broke...
