my point exactly in another post- you shouldn't gimp yourself just to be different. i did it for 9 months and no one gave a crap. no one pinned a medal on me for being unique with a gimped minmatar assault/MD.
I had always wanted to go scout. but i didn't like the low survivabilty. now i've gone scout on a passive alt, it's not the cloak i'm addicted to but i do use it to regen my armor and stamina. i am addicted to the speed and radar intel, it's totally what my style requires.
i dont even bother joining squads atm because of the amount of toxic a-holes either bitter because they dont know how to fight scouts or they are an older scout with a grudge against the new ones. i hated the ground game for the last 6 months, now i play all 3 modes i'm so happy with it. i run the basic cloak unless i have an AV fit i run enhanced. i run the basic to prepare myself for a nerf and the basic cloak ups your game, it makes you play better to not rely on such a long cloak.
now that i've got scout i haven't seriously flown dropships in 3 days, i found myself single handedly defending a point i was like there's no way i can go back now to a different infantry, sorry to be a FOTM but i'm a scout for life now.
do what you want man, it's your game and you will end up regretting it if you let others dictate the way you play it. what i suggest is make a new alt for academy, you can fit a cloak on a minmatar scout in there. the academy is somewhat of a microcosm of when things are going right in a regular match and you can test if you like cloak or not on a minscout before committing.

Honor ?! What does honor have to do with using an Item that's there to use and people actually spec into it... Not like scouts get a free proto CLOAK!!!

I take your points but i'm a confirmed crybaby and never pretended otherwise  Started late - just trying to catch up the best way I can. Apologies if the Scout threads are bringing you down but it's an issue - that seems pretty obvious. I do defintiely agree with the philosoophy that you should adapt to survive - which is why I'm considering changing class. Honour is relevant - jumping on an exploit does give me pause. I like DUST because it feels like these ephemeral things matter far more than any other game I've played. Sincerely that's what I think!
there is no exploit outside of some dumb perceptions, except i guess some ppl figure out a way to shoot while stealthed. that will probably be fixed. i've never tried it or saw a reason to.
it's not the players fault for CCP failing the assault suit, CCP creates the FOTMs the players naturally want to be effective so they skill into them. i personally was tired of being sluggish and radar blind and detectable outside my LAV. but how can there be a FOTM when tanks, ADS, heavies and scouts are supposedly FOTM- there cant be more than one so what that means is it's almost balanced except for assault. assault needs a gadget to make it appealing like a jetpack or something unique.
